Honeymoon Recommendation

Planning our honeymoon for late June / early July (8-10 days). We want something relaxing, not too much "seeing the sites" or driving, something romantic, preferably near water. We're leaning towards Italy (Lake Como - please advise!, possibly South - Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, Sardinia?, Capri?) - any recommendations? $ not a big issue. Debating between Europe & Caribbean - been to Caribbean a bunch and love it (and the relaxing part of it) but feel like doing something different.

You've been to Italy before - - a little? a lot? (How do all these young people get so much travel under their belts so young!? Hmm - - I gues I should look at my own daughters to answer that)

You don't mention Venice. If you have not been there I would recommend arrive Verona, one night there, three nights Venice, four nights on Lake Como, fly home from Milan.

If you have been to Venice, have you explored other parts of the Veneto?

More recommendations requires a better understanding of what interests you about Italy - - either based on prior travel experiences there - - or expectations.

Whatever your decisions, congratulations on your new life in marriage... and...

Best wishes,

Rex

Does it has to be in Europe? Your description has Hawaii written all over.

Thanks for the reply. Been to Italy once, years ago, on a high school guided trip. Loved it but honestly don't remember much - we were travelling each day & it got exhausting spending most of the time on the bus. So....want something VERY relaxing (and romantic) this time around. Would love to go back to Venice. Love to hike, golf, beach, the outdoors too...that's why we had been leaning towards going back to the Caribbean to "beach" it.... Not familiar with the Veneto and need affirmation on Como that it is as beautiful as everyone says (I have spent many years out in Colorado, also Tahoe & Lake Placid).

Re. Hawaii - getting there on miles is out of the question during our dates so we're saving that for another trip.

Definitely Lake Como...specifically Villa d'Este if money is not an issue. We were there last year and it fits your requirements perfectly. We planned a full day in Como area but junked it when we checked in. The place was made to lounge around. It was too beautiful to leave especially since we were there overnight. Food is great, gardens are amazing. They have a spa...indoor and outdoor dining area. Service was excellent. Our room was magical. They upgraded us to a lake view room with two balconies.

How about the Riviera? Some of the smaller towns on the coast are tremendously romantic - and you can do as many or as few sports/cultrual activites as you like staying in 1 or 2 places.

Hi Cad,

I suggest you consider the Amalfi Coast.

Fly in/out Naples

2-3 nights on Capri

5 nights in Ravello - Villa Cimbrone or Villa San Michele.

You can visit Naples, Pompeii, Positano, Sorrento, Paestum

or not

1 day and one night in Naples before returning.

Enjoy your honeymoon, wherever you go.

These hotels and destinations may well fit your requirements, especially is $ is not a big issue as you mention.

-Hotel Cala di Volpe in Sardinia
-Hotel Splendido in Portofino
-Hotel de Cap-Ferrat - nr Nice
-Il Pellicano in Porto Ercole
-Le Sirenuse in Positano

All romantic and near the water. Sardinia would get my vote.
