honeymoon in spain
Hi:
I will be on my honeymoon next year in late April. I went to a travel agency, but to be honest i did not like it. They just wanted to stick us with tours. Something I don't want to do on my honeymoon. My fiance and I are pretty independent and want an adventure. We don't know where to begin, please help. We do know we want to spend a couple of days in Barcelona, but we would love to go to the most beautiful beach, and the most beautiful country-side. Thanks so much!

Hi
You could have a good compromis by staying around the Costa Brava.
It is quiet in April, with nice weather.
This would give you plenty of options for -
Barcelona
Pyrenees
Andorra
France
There is a train that runs along the coast. A car would be needed for Pyrenees etc.
A romantic couple of nights could be spent at the small hotel in Port Legat.
Cadaques is quiet, or think of somewhere like Estartit with a bit more life.
I have a link to the Costa Brava tourist site on my homepage at -
http://tlp.netfirms.com
You'll find it in the Living in Languedoc links section under "days away"

In April I would recommend a warmer area such as Marbella in Costa del Sol which faces the Mediterranean toward Africa. Another favorite is Mallorca which you can easily reach by ferry from both Barcelona and Valencia. The Marriott offers Villa rentals at both these locations. The suites were gorgeous at these world-class resorts.

Coincidently my fiancee and myself are planning a honeymoon in early September hitting Barcelona and then to Mallorca. How long is the ferry ride from Barcelona to Mallorca? We too went to a couple of travel agents but they don't know anything about these places!
