Hi Jinky,

Thanks for the reply. Can you comment on possibly staying in Furore? I found this place from a previous link someone posted...

Thanks!

If you can stay more towards Amalfi, I have rented (haven't stayed yet) but it's about 100 euro per night, for a small house. Casa Torre
Via Giovanni Augustariccio 13
84011 AMALFI (Italy)

Here is a link-I hope it works for you.

http://www.flipkey.com/amalfi-vacati.../#inquiry-form

I know it's not as "posh" as many in the area, but to me it's perfect-quaint and "real". It is also close to the bus stop, big bonus for us!

The owner has been absolutely amazing with helping us! She speaks wonderful English as well! If you choose to contact her, make sure you let her know you are on your honeymoon! She is very quick to respond to emails. She rents per day, and does not require a full week rental (if you decide to move around a lot).

Congratulations & have a wonderful vacation.

Yes way too much hopping about... Keep the plan simple with minimal hoping from place to place. Fly into Naples Take the high speed ferry to Capri ...spend two days in Capri meaning at least one overnight without all the daytrippers about..plenty to do an see on Capri for two days...take ferry to amalfi for a few days ..visit nearby positano etc. Ferry back to Naples for return flight home..simple ...scenic... Romantic!

Jill. Jill, Hill... Furore now? Are you picking that place because it's so cheap? Did you look at any of the other links provided?

Jill you need to pick two places and stick to them, like I said before. You are making the mistake of your eyes and imagination being too big for your trip. I have done this before... it is not worth it.

Don't pick all cheapest accommodations so you can do more things and stay in more places. Pick two and stick with them.

I suggest this site for more information: http://slowtalk.com/groupee/forums/a/frm/f/559601885

Hi!

No cheaper flights from Air Transat?

We are staying here in September. The owner is super nice, and the rent not too expensive :
http://www.laloggetella.it/inglese/index.html

We always prefer to stay put in one apartment and get the real feel of a place instead of runing around. The bonus of renting an apartment is that often there are great fresh produce markets and it's easy to whip up a fantastic meal for next to nothing.

Have fun, and I agree : don't try to see everything. Traveling is taking the time to stop and look around, smell the roses and sip the limoncello! Farniente! Farniente!

Jinky, Jinky, Jinky...

We ARE picking only two places! Somewhere in the Amalfi Coast area from the 13th to the 19th or 20th and then Trastevere in Rome from the 19th or 20th to the 26th! I have a couple of apartment options in Trastevere already. Just trying to figure out which is the best. Now I'm trying to find somewhere to stay in or around Amalfi. I looked at ALL the links. So many now that I'm starting to get confused. We were able to stay within our budget for the Rome apartment, but I'm thinking we're going to have to up our budget for Amalfi... How far is TOO far down the coast with regards to seeing the sights in and around there? I'm going to start looking at a higher price point because we want a nice place with a view of the sea and within walking distance to grocery, beach, bus stop, etc. Any further suggestions? Thanks!

Jojonana,

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. Air Transat would be just under $2500 right now with the seat fees. I think we're going to book with Al Italia this week as a friend gave us a promo coupon for $100 off. Not much, but it helps. Thanks again for the link.

Jill, good

Just make sure to budget for taxi/rail for your day trips and tours. Also, make sure wherever you stay has a bus nearby. Find out where the closest bus station and train stations are.

It's easy to get confused with so many options. What is your price point for your stay in Amalfi?

Jinky - what is reasonable for 6 or 7 nights? Is it possible to spend less than $1000 Canadian? Which is approx. $725 Euros...? I've be looking on the Summer in Italy site - it's good - but they seem to want Sat. to Sat. bookings. We're arriving on a Wednesday...

If you email summer in italy with your requirements and budget they are excellent at making suggestions. Be sure that you get some outdoor space with a view - thats what you are going for! Nothing beats sitting overlooking the water and sipping lemoncello in the evening!!! We emailed them and they responded very quickly.

Hi there, my boyfriend and I are actually going during that time too, but from July 8-24. We are staying for 4 nights in Positano and found a great, affordable pensione called Casa Guadagno Pensione. All of the rooms have balconies overlooking the water. It also received good reviews on tripadvisor if you are still looking for a place to stay along the amalfi coast. We are doing another 3 nights in Capri, but splurged a little on those nights for the hotel since its hard to find cheap places in Capri, lol.

Jill, the summer in italy people are flexible especially if they don't have the place booked already. We rented a house from them for three weeks in June/July and they were very understanding about letting us rent a little early.

If you can get airfare for around $1100.00, i would jump. We purchased our tix at the end of Jan. and I paid $1019.00 with tax and fees. And that is what will kill you. I have seen sales since but while the price for the tix maybe cheaper, a lot of times you are talking about two connecting flights which mean more time away from your trip and more $$$ in taxes and airport fees. The best advice that I got from this site is that once you set your budget and see airfare in your price range, pull the trigger and don't look back.

Also, have you looked at Minori or Maiori. They are further south from positano, but not far at all. They do not have the touristy flare that Positano or Sorrento have, but they are just as pretty. Maiori is not as pretty as the others, but it has the nicest beach in the area. Check out this place in Minori, it looks like it might be in your budget...

We rented a place in Maiori for our wedding, and we loved the stunning views of the towns of Positano, and Amalfi in the distance when they were lit up at night.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to thank you for all your help with our trip! We booked our flights for approx. $1200 each, so not TOO bad. We're flying into and out of Rome. I believe we arrive around 10 am or so...

Once we get there we need to get down to the Amalfi Coast where we're staying for the first week. We're staying at the Appartamento Rodolfo which is about 3km from Amalfi and 12km from Positano. We hope it's a good spot!

http://www.summerinitaly.com/eng/ren...443!italy_.htm

http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

Can anyone help us with the best way to get there from Rome? I've read suggestions that say to take the train to Salerno and then a bus or ferry? Also, what are the best day trips to do while in Amalfi? Best beaches? Any other suggestions?

After a week in Amalfi we're heading to Rome and staying in Trastevere for a week.

http://www.vrbo.com/156961

Are there any day trips we can take from Rome? Is Orvieto too far?

Anyways, any further suggestions for our trip would be great!!

Thanks again!

Jill
