Holidays in Saint-Tropez
My friends and I are planning a vacation in Saint-Tropez in July. We will arrive in Nice and want to understand the best way to get to the hotel. There will be 5 of us. Tell me, if we arrive late after 22:00, will it be difficult to get to Saint-Tropez or is it better for us to arrive during the day? What is the fastest way to get there by train or bus? Is a taxi expensive? How long will it take us to get from Saint-Tropez to Nice airport, I really want to understand what time to leave so as not to be late for the plane. Thank you very much!

Saint Tropez, along with Monaco, is about the last place that I would want to spend a holiday on the Côte d'Azur since I don't really like paying double or triple for everything. There are nearby towns that are much nicer and less crowded. However, if your goal is to interact with the white haired billionaires on their yachts, forget that I said anything.
Note: Saint Tropez is normal and nice in the off season.

There is no direct train service to the town. You are best to pre-arrange transport, as with five people with luggage you'll need a van. That will run around 430 Euros (or more for a limo). A taxi may cost 300 to 350 Euro but you will need two. It will take about 90 minutes from the airport. The bus takes about 3 hours and a change, and it may not be an option late at night. You could also take a train to St. Raphael and then a taxi, but availability late at night would not be guaranteed. (There are many hotels close to the airport). You can also charter a helicopter but they may run late at night.
But in reality, the San Tropez peninsula may be best enjoyed with a car, depending on where you are staying. The best beach (Pampalonne) can be reached by shuttle bus from the main village and port area. But having a car will allow you to explore nearby areas, villages and wineries. But I would not recommend arriving late at night from an overseas destination and driving.
It can take anywhere from 120 minutes or more during a busy time in July for the return trip, during the daytime hours, due to traffic.

I continue to be surprised by people selecting a destination before figuring out how to get there and back when cost, speed and ease are considerations. Have been to the Cote 5 times and St Tropez twice. Certainly gooster and Kerouac are more knowledgeable but I too would not want to go there in high season. Also agree that a car would be quite useful unless you just want to sit at the beach for your stay. Would personally not drive at night even if you are flying in from within the continent. Driving during the day is not difficult but my understanding is that traffic close to St Tropez is awful during the summer and it may take 3-4 hours. I have only been in the fall.

The cheapest way to get to Saint-Tropez from Nice airport is by bus. First, you go from the airport to Saint-Raphaël on bus #90. Then you change to bus #876. The ticket costs 19.5 and 2.1 euros. In total, 21.60 euros for one person. The journey takes 3-4.5 hours, depending on traffic jams, but if you go in the evening it will be faster. The last bus leaves the airport at 21:30, so you need to arrive before 20:00-20:30, otherwise the bus may leave while you are getting your luggage.
The train also goes only to Saint-Raphaël, and then on the same bus #876, but you still need to get to the train by tram and the train may be a little more expensive; the last one leaves at 21:25.
More information about the schedule and route is written on the forums:

and https://www.welcomepickups.com/nice/...-to-st-tropez/.
If your flight arrives later than 20:30 take a transfer, a taxi will be more expensive. A private transfer on a Renault type minibus for 5-7 people can be found for 230 euros, so 230 euros / 5 people = 46 euros for 1 person. More expensive than a bus, but not much. By car, late at night, you can get to Saint-Tropez in 1.5 hours even in high season. Here are some sites with good prices for vans:

A helicopter is too expensive and a boat cannot leave in the evening.
Renting a car with insurance for 5 people will cost 200-250 euros per day, and this rather large car needs to be parked somewhere, and it is quite difficult to drive without the necessary experience.

Large SUVs (like an X5 to X7) and vans, even loaded with every type of insurance are running at 100 to 120E per day (e.g. Alamo). (Prices have come down quite a bit.) The famous resorts all can hold that type of SUV quite easily, and with five people it is feasible. Yes, you will have an incremental parking charges but the OP will get the freedom to wander on their own.
