Historic charm restaurant in Ghent

Hello! I will be in Ghent and meeting friends for dinner - all of our first ever visit of Ghent. We'd love some place that has historic charm and ambiance....good food is also nice, but it's really about the atmosphere and feeling the history (ie, nothing modern and polished). Do you have any suggestions?

And while I'm at it, anything like this fit the bill for Bruges as well?

THANK YOU!!

We had a lovely meal at this restaurant which is in once of the main squares https://www.duprogres.be/en

Surprisingly good despite its location in the tourist area

We loved One Restaurant (that's really the name) in Bruges, located near the entrance of Minnewaterpark. I wrote that it "oozed charm in a rather old-world setting." The food and the service were excellent. You can scroll through our day if you want to see more about One near the end of the post.
