Hilton Honors

On two recent European trips I stayed
at Hiltons, but on both occasions my
account was not credited for the stays.
I've also had difficulty getting transfer
credit for expenditures on my Amex/Hilton
charge card. If you're a HH member, what
has your experience been?

I too have a HH card- just xerox your hotel charge sheet with your HH no. on it and dates you stayed--Hilton should credit your HH acct.--Call Hilton for their fax no. into the Honors Dept--1-800-HILTONS

Andy,

I appreciate your response, but I have been through that procedure several
times now and I don't wish to keep
doing it. Even when I've spoken to the
HH people on the phone, there seems to
be an air of incompetence about them.
(And I am not by nature a complainer.)
That's why I wanted others to share
their experiences, either good or bad,
with me, so that I can tell just how
much the problem is me or them.

Thanks,

Earnest

I've found no real benefit to my being a HH member. It doesn't get me better service, rates, upgrades, etc.

I had a bad experience with Hilton last year (construction noise from 8A to 9P with no warning at reservation time) and have sent several e-mails and a letter to the HH customer service dept. It has been over a year and I have gotten no acknowledgement at all.

I'm sorry I don't have advice for your account credits, I just wanted to vent.

Good luck,
j.

I've never had trouble getting my points credited when I give my card at registration or enter my number when I make a reservation on the Web. I've had mixed results trying to get credit after the fact, though. I've had success when I faxed in my receipt, but am still waiting for a credit for my trip to Paris late last year. I entered that information via the Hilton web site.

I have been able to use my points for hotel stays, so I think its worthwhile if you stay at Hiltons frequently. However, I agree with Jon that in general, I am not offered room upgrades, late checkouts, or other perks that the literature claims are supposed to be available to members. I find this true of most hotel rewards programs.

I haven't had any problem getting points credited after the fact. I know that one benefit is free health club services at hotels that have them for being a silver level member when there is a charge. Also, we have been granted late check out several times. This doesn't, however, help you with your problem. Sorry.

Just had the same problem with 4 separate stays at 3 separate hotels (Embassy Suites, but in the HH program) NONE of the stays were credited. Spent 30 minutes on the phone getting them all recorded after we got home. The operator that was entering them was a total airhead.

I agree with the previous comment. No point to join the HH Club. No upgrade, No nothing. They even quote you the hotel's higher rate when you book a room with them, until you squeeze them, sometimes with a bit of tactic bluff, then, they will give you a better rate, but reluctantly.

The problem that I've encountered with
having both an American Express Hilton
Honors card and being a Hilton Honors
card member is that one can say it's
the other's fault. You get the, "You'll
have to call them," business. I've
experienced that twice. I'm beginning
to think the aggravation isn't worth it.

Leonard Simek

I feel your pain.

We stayed at the Hilton Metropole London in October and have still not got the points credited. After emails, faxes, and phone calls, we are ready to give up. We are diamond members (the highest you can get in HH) and still have had not response.

I hate to walk away from this because it would be thousands of points for the length and expense of our stay. Good luck.

A Hilton Honors employee, to whom I was complaining about missing hotel stay credits, made this comment to me yesterday: "It can be difficult to get credit for domestic stays; international stays can be impossible."

That has been my experience exactly, and I'm surprised that more Fodorites have not encountered the same problems. Or have you?

Cheers,

Gerry K
I also have a problem with air mile rewards - Aeroplan has a points for dollars spent at a Hilton - the areoplan card is always swiped when the bill is paid , the person at the desk always says "done" ...and guess what , the points never show up on my Aeroplan statement . I just mail the hotel bill into Aeroplan and the points are there in a couple of months . This must be a real pain in the ass for Aeroplan . I know it is for me .

Phil
