I got a bus [Globtour] between Split and Mostar in both directions. I was expecting comfy, but far from it in both directions. The vehicles were full, and had several broken seats, ie. in permanent full recliner position.

When was that? And why Globtour, rather than any of the other bus lines that provide transport between those two cities?

Thanks for all the useful information. We will not need the train before Zagreb as we will be driving in Craotia, Montenegro and Bosnia.
I will check the relevant information provided.
It is great to be part of Fodors.

Hi Guys,

All of you are great. As far as Croatia is concerned, we do not need trains to get around because we will have a rental car for that but thanks.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the information. We have a rental car in Croatia and drop off at Zagreb. We will not need the ferry because we travel from Ljubljana via bus (thanks to your help) to Trieste, where we pick up a car for the Italy visit.

Piggybacking on this thread: will we be able to buy train tickets in Ljublyana for Zagreb to Budapest or do we have to buy them in Croatia? If only in Croatia, could we buy those tickets in Pula or only in Zagreb. Thank you

More info here. Sounds like you can only buy the tickets in Croatia. You could try to buy them in Pula, but it sounds like it's not something you should be so worried about. If you can't buy them ahead of time from outside of Croatia, neither can anyone else.
