Help with Special Needs Dining in Paris

We are meeting friends for dinner in Paris. My friend is in a wheelchair, so I'm looking for a restaurant in or near the 6th that has no stairs or steps, and that also has a toilet on the ground floor. Does anyone know if any of the following restaurants meets these criteria? Or I'd appreciate any other suggestions as well. Thank you!

L'Epi Dupin
La Ferrandaise
Fish
Les Charpentiers
Maison du Jardin
Le Temps Perdu
Au Bon Saint Pourcain

I can't think of any Paris restaurant that I've been in , except Le Reminet, that the toilets haven't been upstairs or down.

If you sit on the entry floor of Le Reminet you'd be okat. Chez Fernand has 1 step down for the toilets if you dine in the entry section.

Hi Glor,

At La Ferrandaise, I recall that the toilets are up 2-3 stairs.
Neither my Lady Wife nor I can recall where they are at Fish or Maison du Jardin.

We both think that the toilets at http://www.vagenende.fr/us/p1.html are on the same level as the dining.

You could call your hotel and ask them to check for you.

Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure the toilets are on the ground floor at Le Reminet -- but I think the restaurant itself would be an awfully snug fit for a wheel chair.

I think your best option is to rely on your concierge to call around and help you out . . . .

Thanks to you all for your thoughts. I knew this would be a tough issue. I'll contact my hotel and get their advise. And I will look at Le Reminet - the wheelchair can be left at the entrance, and won't be needed at the table, so that might be a definite possibility. Hopefully, Le Reminet is a nice restaurant as well! Thank again.

The city of Paris has a "tourisme & handicap" division which probably has all of the answers to your questions.

I know that at Fish the rest rooms are up a narrow curved staircase.

The vast majority of bistros and Brasseries are in old buildings which cannot, or have not been retrofited for handi-access. However, all the major hotel restaurants are fully compliant with modern access standards. Forget about the metro, and plan on lots of Taxi rides. It can be done, but won't be easy.

Thanks to you all for your responses. Sounds like Le Reminet & Vagenende are at least possibilities. My hotel could only recommend Le Procope - not high on my wish list but I guess I should also consider it. Kerouac - the tourisme & handicap division of the paris tourisme website was not really helpful. Another website called cityvox.fr lists dozens of supposedly accessible restaurants, but I'm very sceptical of the accuracy of their information. Someone else suggested Ze Kitchen Gallerie or Alcazar; can anyone confirm? I was also wondering about La Bastide Odeon, so if anyone can comment I'd appreciate it.
