unforgettable meal in Paris

looking for the most fabulous restaurant in Paris for our 20th anniversary dinner in early June. Amazing food and romantic setting. Not just great reputation but really has truly special food. We are big NYC and world foodies but the last two times I was in Paris I was either a broke student or traveling with young kids.

Two of my faves are l'Hotel and l'Espadon.

Not romantic in the 'true' sense but so special if you are a foodie. Its in the 15th.

Thanks ggreen! I appreciate the shout out and you knew I would have to respond to this...there are many to choose from...well, where to start...
Le Cinq really is amazing...Les Ambassadeurs is also incredible and has this "something" that kinda made us prefer it over Le Cinq...now if you are going to go all out for a menu degustation, we have been to L'Atelier Joel de Robuchon twice, the first we did the whole degustation menu and the send just ordered. The food is special and the restaurant I wouldn't call romantic but it is a great experience (especially for the foodie); it's a small restaurant with great service...if you are there in summer and they have gazpacho with mustard sorbet...go, get it and die happy.

Let us know where you decide to go and then tell us all about it!

Are there any price guidelines?

It might help if you tell us your favorite places in New York, or elsewhere, so we can see what style of place you like....

Do you want "old world elegance," modern, etc etc.

If you want truly delicious food, try Ze Kitchen Gallerie (one Michelin star) in the 6th. The food is French-Asian fusion and it is spectacular. The surroundings are not romantic in the velvet and chandeliers sense but it is a lovely place to eat.

In addition to Fodor's, for more information than you could ever want, try Chowhound's France board.

I think it would be very hard to beat Jules Verne for a romantic evening. Watching the lights come on throughout Paris below is certainly the most romantic dining experience my wife and I have had! Having said that, you need to make reservations way in advance of your special date.

We thought Bistro du Sommelier was very good, also, but I wouldn't suggest it as a romantic anniversary location because the tables are very close together (as in so many French restaurants). We literally felt like we were there with our seat mates (on a long banquet).
