Hello to all. After some business in Germany, my husband and I are taking a side trip to Paris (first time)and we have 3 days. Want a recommendation for a nice, romantic hotel near tourist attractions. (Do you recommend left bank or right bank?) Don't want to skimp (but also don't need the most expensive). What do you mean by romantic? Does it have to have a quartet playing Mozart? Do you need candles instead of lights? Is an Italian tenor required?

If not, try the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 rue Bonaparte in the 6th. This is where my we always stay. They don't have a website.

I prefer the left bank try www.hoteldupantheon.com in the Latin Quater directly across from the Pantheon, also hotel Grands Hommers in the same hotel group- click other hotels on du Pantheon's web site.
Both hotels are offering winter promotions.

Have you gone to the Paris pages on Fodors main site? There are many hotel listings there with comments ("Rants and Raves&quot from fodorites who've stayed in them.

It's easier to advise you if we know your budget. Generally, a 2 star hotel will be adequate, clean and range under 120E. A 3 star will have more charm and will be in the 125 to 250E range. From there you move up to lap-of-luxury quarters.

Most on these boards prefer the Left Bank (5th, 6th and 7th arrondisements) or the Marais (4th). Do a search on these pages for "arrondisement". There are some old threads which give very good, concise descriptions of the different districts of Paris.
