Help with our German travel

Hi. So where do we stay outside of Munich so we can see the city and perhaps just be a train ride away (short) but stay in a nice villa with a pool and/or lake and then also visit the castles and perhaps go to Salzburg one day??? Also-- we are talking about 12 of us. A full dozen.
What would you do after that-- we are thinking of heading to Prague for 3 days and then we have to be in Berlin after that. Happy to hear what we should see/do would be great. A large family trip.

Thanks.

ck out the Steinberger See (lake area for that) - How long in Munich? If less than 3 days I'd scrub Prague - takes a whole day between Munich and Prague - buses being the fastest I believe -check www.bahn.de/en - about 25 euros - pre-book. Prague to Berlin is a day's trip as well - very scenic train ride and could stop of for a few hours in Dresden or longer. For lots on trains check www.seat61.com; BETS-European Rail Experts and www.pricksteves.com.

Here are some castles on Steinberger See - short S-Bahn ride to Munich:

The Starnberger See is just 27 km from munich's inner by train or road and they do have villas with pools (I advise however staying right in heart of Munich so you have access to thinks like the famous Hofbrauhaus beer hall at night. And things in Munich are far-flung - consider a day trip to the Dachau Memorial Canp in suburban Munich.

Pardon my mixing up Steinberger See - near Nurnberg- with Starnberger - See previous post of mine.

Here is a quick search I did on Google using "Ferienwohnungen Villas nahe Muenchen", and then picked a search engine and typed in "12" for the number of adults. The first ones are all in Munich, the lower ones are nearby. There are lots of options.

https://www.holidu.de/s/München--Deutschland?adults=12

You might want to be a bit careful with the Muenchen ones as I understand there are limits on holiday apartments such that they can't be let over a certain number of nights per year but you would have to confirm that. Someone here will come in and confirm that. You should be OK with the ones outside of Munich though. If the German defeats you use Google Translate but I think you should be able to understand most of the website.

Well outside of Munich and half way between Salzburg and Munich, perfectly located for a day trip to either, is the town of Prien am Chiemsee. The King Ludwig II Palace, Herrenchiemsee, is right there - on an island in the Middle of Chiemsee Lake.

"DB" on the map shows the train station in Prien. The trip to Munich or Salzburg takes one hour. A Bayern ticket is a group day pass and a good way to travel, as a rule:

Prien is popular - book ahead:

Berlin is a large city to discover on foot, but there's a place where we could observe the whole city of Berlin in one visit! That was at 'Miniature world loxx' located at the top floor of Alexa shopping centre, it was fun seeing the small size models of Berlin's main sights before visiting the actual places, they also have an open workshop showing how those tiny buildings were created. For outdoor activities; I suggest 'Tiergarten' inner city park, it's huge with many attractions and different seasonal activities, it also has the oldest and best known Zoo in germany called 'Berlin Zoological Garden'.
