Hello all,

We have booked our flights into London and out of Amsterday for me, my wife, and our 10-year old son for mid to end of June.

I'm trying to figure out how to split the trip into those 3 cities and would love your help.

We arrive in LONDON on a MONDAY at 2pm.
We depart AMSTERDAM 2 weeks later on a FRIDAY at 11am.

With our 10-year old, we plan on hitting about one museum per day and only the major attractions. We want to take it easy, not over do it.

My wife and I have both been to Paris.

Current plan is this, but I'd like to know if we should spend less time in London and more in Amsterdam at the end:

Monday: Arrive London around 2pm
Tuesday: London
Wednesday: London
Thursday: London
Friday: Train to Paris mid-day
Saturday: Paris
Sunday: Paris
Monday: Paris
Tuesday: High Speed Train to Amsterdam (about 3.5 hours trip), getting in mid afternoon
Wednesday: Amsterdam
Thursday: Amsterdam
Friday: Fly back to US at 11am

Hi Pablo, I think that looks like a great itinerary. You have three full days in London, and two full days in Amsterdam. I would leave it like that. London is much larger than Amsterdam.

Nope - in fact I think you should spend more time in London. First of all day 1 is pretty much a non starter since you likely won't even get to your hotel til 4 or 5 PM, and Friday is shot since you need to check out and be at St Pancras about an hour ahead of time. So as it is you only have 3 full days for London. Second - you'll be jet lagged at the beginning so the first day or two will be a slog. And finally - London is ENORMOUS with just masses of things for families to see/do.

A very sensible itinerary in terms of time spent in each city.

Especially for a family I recommend the Amsterdam Historical Museum. It is very well curated in chronological order, lots of vivid modern styled exhibits, and don't miss the end which is the more recent history and what it is like to live now in Amsterdam. They also have a family tour.

London is catnip for hobbits. Don't short London because the boy should love it.

And if he's a typical boy: Imperial War Museum, Transport Museum, the Tower . . .

You may want to see if the administrators can combine your threads - the questions are similar and you may be getting different answers that you might miss.
