Help with fall Football (Soccer) schedules. Itinerary depends on it.
I was really wanting to attend a football match while I'm in Italy Sept 2-10. So much so that I'm willing to plan my travels around it. It doesn't matter if it's AC Milan, Inter, Roma, or even lower tier Florence, I'm just not able to locate any schedules for that time frame. Any soccer fans with insight? Thanks.

I don't think the fixture list (calendario) for Serie A, B, C etc has been published yet. Last year it was around July 22. But since the 2009/10 season is starting a week earlier on August 23 (because of World Cup in RSA in June/July 2010), announcement may be sooner than later.
And even if it is announced, the details are still subject to change because of TV coverage, police instruction or agreement between the clubs to move dates (subject to approval by the Italian FA).

Thanks, Alec. I was hoping for a little more planning time, but you get what you get. I saw a match in Salzburg 2 years ago, sat in the middle of the hardcore fans, and it became THE memory of my first trip to Europe. I want to made sure I at least try to add that experience to this trip, as well.

Fiorentina of Florence are certainly not lower tier. They finished 4th last year - above both Rome sides (Roma and Lazio).
Normally I would say head to Milan ot Rome as one of the two major sides would certainly be playing at home on the Sunday. However, this time you are out of luck as the national Italian side is playing on the 5th and on the 9th , so there will be no Serie A games during your visit.

hsv...really...
Don't be so limited. It's also called fußball or even calcio. But I'm pretty sure, ever since Spain lost, it's called soccer.
Seriously though, I didn't want any confusion as to which sport, since they do play "American football" in Europe. Or I'd hate for Peter_S_Aus to take the time to give me a wonderfully detailed report of everywhere they play Australian Rules Football.

Sorry, I don't know the official sites for obtaining tickets, but this site (in Italian) seemed to have them for around €60.

They play American football in Europe?? They did for a while
It'll never catch on . It didn't.
It's reasonably easy to get tickets for Italy games - the Italians ain't the big on international football.
€60 mentioned above is probably about double face value - so quite a bargain.

Yes, they still play American football in Europe. Read "Playing for Pizza" by John Grisham for some great insight into Italian American football - and some good laughs. Last year I was walking through Verona and met the "American football" team. They were handing out free T-shirts and sometimes I proudly wear my Verona Redskins shirt... looks just like the Washington Redskins logo, but with a "V."

willit,
TY for focusing my quest on the FIFA qualifier. I added an overnight "side-trip" on 9/9 to Turin to watch Italy vs Bulgaria. Tickets go on sale 8/20.

Your welcome. I hope you get a ticket. If you do succeed, I suspect you will need to carry a passport to the game as "foreigners" need to confirm they are the person named on the ticket. This is certainly true of domestic games, and I was asked for ID when I went to see the friendly between Italy and South Africa last year.
