You could lock your luggage while you leave it. That would stop them from casually looking.

I'm assuming you'd have all your valuables with you anyway.

Yes, when traveling so many different places, it is nice to have very little with you. I'm going to try to cut down to bare essentials for our Spain trip because we will be in so many different hotels.

For those of you who were wondering....we found that there are lockers in the Barcelona Airport but only in terminal B. The price depends on the size but more or less it could be around 4 euros per day.

Stick to the lightest weight limit. Pack some old clothes that you can bin later to free up weight for souvenirs. Take the biggest hand luggage you can and load it heavy (just don't look like you are struggling with it!) My wife and I usually travel either hand luggage only or with one large holdall, but the weight restrictions are beginning to punish us for only checking one bag in. May have to change soon.

I suggest you try the local 'Yellow Pages'. There are hundreds of commercial conduits from the USA to Europe. The first one to check is the Post Office. UPS is another. Another possibility is the airline. Airlines operate freight services. You can make daily shipments from Europe to the USA via the local PO. Most sell containers of various sizes. If you buy souvenirs you may the shop post them home. Check customs allowances! Don't hesitate to ship to your hotel now!
