Help wit Itinerary - 2 weeks in Croatia and Montenegro in August

Hello!

My boyfriend and I are planning a 2 week trip through Croatia in August. We are from Brazil and would like to make the most out of it since it is such a long way from home. I have been reading a lot about the country but wasn't able to figure out how many days to stay in each city and what's the best way to get from one place to the other.

We wanted to see Hvar, Brac, Dubrovnik, Korcula, and a city in Montenegro.

Here are a few of our questions:
1) Is it worth it to spend a night in Split? Or should we just see it during the day on our way to Hvar.

2) Is Plitvice worth seeing? We are not a very nature-oriented couple, could we visit on a day trip?

3) How far are Brac and Hvar from each other? Can we stay in Hvar and visit Brac during a day trip?

4) What city do you recommend we visit in Montenegro?

Thank you very much for your help!!

What cities are you flying into/out of?

1) With 2 weeks are your disposal, I would.
2) YES! and yes, a day trip is fine, but only if it works with your itinerary.
3) Possible, but it might be a long day. You can pay for an excursion, or you can go to Split to get a ferry to Brac. There is not a direct boat from Hvar town to Brac, other than the town of Jelsa on Hvar, which is far from Hvar town.
4) I visited Kotor and Budva. I recommend Kotor.

Keep in mind that August will be very very crowded in all of the popular places, and probably in the not-popular places as well. I would try to fit in a stay somewhere inland or somewhere very removed from the tourist trail, just to give yourselves a break for a few days.

> We wanted to see ... Korcula

Try to do so on a night when the moresca is being performed.

> Is it worth it to spend a night in Split?

I thought so! Many people on this board don't like Split, but I loved it. I found it energetic and dynamic and filled with fascinating contrasts between the ancient and the modern. I spent one very full day there, and would easily have enjoyed more time.

> Is Plitvice worth seeing?

YES!!!

> We are not a very nature-oriented couple, could we visit on a day trip?

Yes, but you might consider an overnight before or after visiting the lakes. That will give you more latitude to see the park without mobs of others.

> What city do you recommend we visit in Montenegro?

Kotor.
