I've searched every bookstore in town and cannot find Michelin Map 419 for our trip to Bavaria in March. Anyone know where I can get it? Thanks!!

Hi! Do you have a Barnes & Noble or Borders? They carry many maps. I usually get my maps from one or the other. you can e-mail b&n to buy on line also. Does it have to be Michelin? I have also used freytag & berndt maps. I find it sturdier and better than Michelin. alan

You can order online from www.amazon..com or www.barnesandnoble.com Depending upon where you're going you may want or need two maps. Roughly speaking, Bavaria west of Munich is covered by map 419 (Fussen, Schongau, Augsburg, for example.) Bavaria east of Munich (Berchtesgaden, Chiemsee) is covered by map 420.

Thanks, all for your responses! I will be ordering the map(s) on-line. Before I do, though, I have 1 more question. Is 419 the right one, and the only one I need? We'll be flying into Munich and then driving to a small village called Oberstaufen to stay. From there, we want to do some daytrips around Bavaria, including the castles, Romantic Road, etc. We also plan to take a daytrip to Austria (where should we go?) and Switzerland (we were thinking St. Gallen, as it's only an hour away from Oberstaufen). Will 419 do it, or is there another one I should get too? Thanks again for the advice!

Michelin map 419 covers the area you're interested in, from Munich to Oberstaufen and from there to as far east as Oberammergau. If you're considering going into Austria and/or Switzerland, you might want to consider the Michelin European Road Atlas instead of map 419. It's an excellent atlas with a good deal of detail. Ideal for both planning an itinerary and tracing one as you drive. I have a number of Bavarian driving itineraries that will expose you to castles, Alpine lakes and mountains, spectacular Baroque and Rococo churches and monasteries.
