Help! Trying to find a flat in Paris --

Hi everyone,

I had posted this at the bottom of another thread but thought it might be better to just start a new one.

I will be going to Paris in mid-April with my husband and mother for 10 nights. I have been looking all over the net and all over this site trying to find a flat. I am looking for something in the 4th, 5th or 6th probably, with a lift, that will sleep 3 (bed and sofa bed would be fine), and hopefully not much over $200 a night.

I have found some things I really liked, but they were booked unfortunately. And then I found some others, that, after researching the location, didn't seem right for us. Of course I don't personally know any of the areas very well, having been to Paris only once, so it makes choosing difficult.

If anyone has any specific suggestions they could make, I would really appreciate it! I'm getting exasperated with the search!

Thanks!

I also wanted to thank others for suggestions on the previous thread. I just still haven't had any luck yet so the search continues...

Hi tatdenning,

I haven't stayed here myself but other posters have from their positive reviews I've had this place bookmarked for a while:

http://www.vrbo.com/24464

It's in the 4th but closer to Bastille. It may not be in the precise location you are looking for, but otherwise it fits your description perfectly.

If an elevator is a must and your budget is fixed, you might have to be open to places a little outside of the central tourist ghetto.

Good luck!

We really liked Vacation inParis apt #122. Excellent bus and metro connections, shops and cafes nearby. A 5 minute walk to Notre Dame.

Hello,

I emailed about vrbo #22464 and am awaiting a reply.

Vacation in paris #122 is already rented.

And I'm checking Craig's list as well.

Please keep any other suggestions coming!

Hi,

I have found a flat for 1647 euros for the 10 nights - it is www.vrbo.com/122061. Is anyone familiar with this flat?

It is located on rue Ferdinad Duval near rue des Rosiers in the Marais. Any thoughts on the area?

We stayed a few blocks from there 2 years ago. It's a very nice neighborhood, can't go wrong.

Nice neighborhood, lots of sights visitors want to see withing walking distance, flat looks well appointed. Is it on the ground floor?

If it suits you, I'd go for it.

We too have been looking for Paris apartments. There are a lot of them out there, but as your time is getting closer I would book soon. We are going in September and some are already booked out that we have been looking at.

This one looks really good for you and good reviews which I always look at. We have been looking in this area also. I'm only a novice but it looks good.

Happy holidays!

Hi everyone,

I am waiting to hear back from the owner. It is on the 2nd floor (1st French) without a lift - but I can handle one flight after sightseeing.

It has gotten very good reviews. And it seems like the location would be one we would like.

I do know things are booking up. That's been the problem - I've found things that have seemed really great only to find out they were gone.

Keep any suggestions coming if anyone has any specific locations they've stayed at or want to comment on the above!

I stayed in apt #148 from Vacation in Paris in October and liked it. My husband and I were traveling with our daughter and my mother joined us for part of the trip too. There are two real bedrooms each with a full/queen (I don't remember which) bed. I think the sofa in the living room was a bed too. It was about $200/night and was comfortable, if a bit spartan. The view was beautiful and very convenient - across from Luxembourg Park in 5e on Blvd San Michel. If it is free and you are interested, I'd be happy to answer specific questions.

Try this one, fabulous location, also on Blvd St Michel, opposite Jardin du Luxembourg. We stayed there last June for 10 days and loved it! We could see the Eiffel Tour twinkling away at night, and there were opera performances at a temporary outdoor theatre in the Jardin. We just listened each night from the comfort of our delightful Parisian home. Lots of posters will tell you that Thierry, the landlord/manager is lovely and extremely helpful. The loungeroom door closes at night to make a separate second bedroom which might work well.

The price is 1000 euros per week - I don't know what that is in US dollars.

Forgot to mention that the bedroom is TINY, no bedside tables etc. But it faces into a courtyard and is quiet, except for the faint rumble of the trains pulling into the nearby RER station.

Hi,

I'm afraid that the bestlodge flat owned by Thierry is already taken for our time period - it would have worked, but the search continues. Thank you for your help though.

We are also looking at www.vrbo.com/148105. Any thoughts on this flat? And a second one we're considering is www.usaparis.com/2P_ST_MICHEL_/index.htm.

Thanks!

Hopefully that works!

Just a reminder that the second floor really means three flights.

sally 30,

Does #148 have a shower also or just the tub?

From the photos i can see what you mean by sparse in the kitchen. Is there enough equipment to make meals for 4? We plan to eat most meals in.

The second floor doesn't mean three flights of stairs, it means two. In the US, it would mean only one.

I would never want an apt. on rue Daval. But it isn't in the Marais, it's in the 11th arr. and is a very small, narrow, noisy street with tons of people on it and clubs, etc. If there is a rue Daval in the 4th near Rosiers, I've never heard of it and it's not on any map of mine.

that VRBO 148805 near pl des Vosges and Ste Catherine place looks okay to me. That is in the Marais.
