Help needed for Cornwall, Devon, London trip in Sept/Oct
We, husband and myself, arrive HLR 10Sept. Plan to train to Bath for 3 day stay, then train to Cornwall.
Husband meets a group 20 Sept in Dartmouth for a walk ending in Taunton on 28 Sept. We would like to stay in one, maybe two places,self-catering with car. Interested in castles, villages, gardens etc. Not beachy people. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
While husband is walking, I will take train to London-Eurostar to Paris for the week and meet him in Taunton. Then another self-catering place in Devon or Somerset and last 3 days in London.
I have several guide books, am looking up train schedules for info on buying tkts in advance. Do I get a Flex Senior Railpass and husb a senior disc pass in England. Eurostar site is giving me fits because it doesn't show a train Paris/London on 27 Sept. Much to think about.
I am open to any suggestions you may have. My mind is a little muddled right now.

Just a couple of quick comments right now:
1) You can fly directly to Paris from Exeter w/o traveling all day to London to catch the train. Or even flying from Bristol would be better than Devon > London > eurostar > Paris. The Eurostar is great - but not so much if you have to travel that far to catch it.
And 2) - many self-catering places will still want full week rentals in early/mid September - so for the first 9 days you may need to do one self-catering and a couple of days in a B&B. There are some properties that will do short breaks at that time of year - but it will just take a bit more searching.

If you're looking for accommodation in Cornwall try these guys - www.bluechipvacations.com
They have great quality self catering cottages in both Devon and Cornwall and will do full weeks or short breaks in September on most of them.
Good luck!

Agree on advice of flight to Paris from Exeter--friends flew flybe with no problem. Book online www.flybe.com We have rented cottages in Devon and Cornwall for several years--Google holiday cottages in devon for loads of listings. I can also recommend cornishcottageholidays.co.uk
