Heading to Paris in October for 4 days 3 nights.
Please suggest budget accommodation near Champs Elysees, Tour Eiffel or near city centre. Preferably walking distance to major place of interest.
2 to 3 star hotels with a budget of Euro 60-80 per night would be great and clean!

Seriously, the Champs Elysées, apart from being one of Paris's most sterile areas (do you like huge box stores and car import dealers?), is one of the most expensive areas of Paris, with the fewest bargain hotels, restaurants, anything...why? because every clueless tourist thinks it's got to be the cat's meow.It's not.

The Tour Eiffel area is also rich and expensive...and many would say boring and too quiet. And you'll never find ANY hotel for 60-80 euros a night there.

You're simply not going to find a hotel for 60-80 euro a night in either of those areas, nor in much of anywhere else in Paris. That's totally unrealistic. You might find a hostel or a cheap 1-star hotel in the 18th or 20th for that, but in "central Paris" or "walking to places of major interest?" Not really. Well, there are places of major interest all over Paris, but probably not what you're thinking of.

Get some guidebooks and do some research and see what is possible. Your vision at present is unrealizable.

We pay €72 a night but stay in the 11th at Hotel Cosmos

Check ACCOR hotels, espeially IBIS (2*) category for your budget.

As jamikins says, Hotel Cosmos is very reasonable. Last October I paid 55euros per night there

Since you are reading Fodors Forum for free, why not look at the company's research and gain a more realistic view of Paris hotel prices before asking the readership? Look up at the top left of this page and click Destinations. PS: You have left this very late to expect to find "bargains"; Paris can be very busy in the fall.

I stayed in a flat almost across the street from the St André des Arts Hotel--checked out the lobby which looked fine. Great location, walking distance to many of the main sites--for two people that saves a bit per day on metro and buses.

A lot of people consider a 2* hotel a budget hotel, I do. And the city center is a pretty broad area. There are some hotels that fit that bill (actually, some cheaper ones are in the 7th arrondisement), probably more towards the 80 euro range.

This hotel in the Latin Qtr has doubles at 70 euro with private shower, cheaper without. http://www.commerceparishotel.com/ I don't know if it is a 2* or not, and it does not take credit cards.

So there are hotels out there like this, the issue is if they will have rooms in October.

Kappa1's advice is good. The Ibis hotels are inexpensive and offer en suite bathrooms, aircon etc. There are 2 near the Gare du Nord (which is handy for arrival and departure either by train or by plane). You won't get exactly what you are asking for unless it is in a very run down area. I have stayed in Ibis hotels in many countries and I can't fault them. You can be wherever you want for sightseeing within 15 to 30 minutes by metro, bus or on foot. I also like the Bastille area. As you get a little further from the centre, Paris starts to look more like France, by which I mean there are real communities with shops, parks affordable restaurants etc.

Actually, very few Ibis hotels in central Paris are that cheap in October, although there are a couple that could be in the 80 euro range. Most that cheap are in the burbs or the very edges of Paris (say far north). The ones that used to be Etaps are perhaps the cheapest, but the one out in Porte de Vincennes is 70 euro, for example, and the one at Porte d'Orleans is also about that rate. The central Ibis are more like 90-110 euro. The cheapest one in the 10th is Ibis Jemmapes and is about 85 euro.

Oct is VERY busy in Paris - so you are 1) late and 2) looking for something not very realistic.

Suggest you check out recos above and also perhaps eurocheapo to see what might be left at this late date.

Are you willing to give on private bath and elevator?
