Help...Naples to Sorrento Train
We are honeymooning in Italy Sept 3 - 11 and hitting Venice, Florence, Positano, and Rome. We have made just about all of our reservations, to a large degree with advice posted here (and some hotel points!).

The question I have now.....How do I get from Naples to Sorrento where I can rent my car? I was told there is a train...does anyone know the name, and how to get the schedule??

Thanks,
Andrew

It's called the Circumvesuviana, it's a commuter train more like a subway/metro car. It's runs a minimum of 2 per hr so I wouldn't worry about a schedule
. From either the Naples Centrale or Garibaldi Train Station (same station just on different levels) just follow the signs to the "Circumvesuviana". There are stairs, 1 long flight down and an escalator up or down from either station. The train leaves from Track 3 (only 4 tracks in the station) will say "Sorrento" on the front and the Departure Board will list Sorrento and the time it will leave. Very easy but a hassle if you have alot of luggage? Regards, Walter

Please post the question you e-mailed to me here, and I will see what I can do.

I strongly prefer to answer questions here because I believe so, SO strongly in the concept of the forum; PUBLIC answers to PUBLICly asked questions help many people. Private answers help one person. And i strongly support the "cross-examination" and tangential discussions that often come with questions and answers.

Sometimes my motives have been questioned, as to why I prefer to answer questions here. I could answer private questions all the time - - but then how would anyone know that I exist to answer their questions?

As a partial answer to your rome hotel question - - have you tried www.venere.com yet?

Best wishes,

Rex Bickers
Westerville, Ohio
> Rex,
>
> I thought I would email you directly, b/c I'm having a problem getting
> a hotel in Rome. I have tried the Del Sonato, Santa Chiara (SP?).
> Cesari, Pantheon, and none are avaiable. We are going on our
> honeymoon, and would love to stay somewhere central to everything.
> You have mentioned several times the Pantheon area. We want to spend
> 250USD or less.
>
> Thanks!!
>
> Andrew

Certainly understandable Rex. If it wasn't for people like you discouraging people like me to send private email I wouldn't have found out all I did with the rest of my trip.

I did try venere, we are trying to get a room at the Cesari...which looks like it might be available. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to do.

..."but then how would anyone know that I exist to answer their questions?"

I've read a lot of pompous, egomaniacial statements on this forum, but this one takes the cake.

You mean your relentless self promotion and self congratulations on a site which doesn't belong to you, is not hosted by you, and CERTAINLY functioned successfully before you decided to take up residence here is not advertisement enough of your wannabe tour guide business?

Do us all a favor and stick a pin in that giant, overinflated ego of yours.
