Looks much better. I would start looking for hotels as soon as you have your dates - since you can sometimes get special deals in advance and it will help you get the most for your budget (hotels in europe typically cost more than the US and * levels are different).

When in Barcelona, try to get a table at Tickets. Ferran Adrià - the worlds most famous chef the past decade (El Bulli) - opened this very special tapas bar last year. They only take reservations two months in advance and only on-line. All tables use to get booked within a few hours, so if you want to be sure to get a table, book shortly after midnight two months in advance of when you plan to go there.

Perhaps stay in medieval Hotel Neri, close to the cathedral and in the Gothic quarter. Parts of the hotel is from the 12th century and other parts were rebuilt after the Spanish Civil War. Gets raving reviews. Going myself in May. http://www.hotelneri.com/en/

I can also very much recommend to have some traditional Catalan food at legendary 7 Portes (Seven doors) from 1836. Lots of Barcelona history in the walls, Picasso lived close by. The greatest flamenco dancer of all times, Carmen Amaya from the neighbouring Somorrostro district (Barceloneta), used to perform here as a young girl together with her father, and Federico García Lorca - possibly the most important Spanish poet and dramatist of the twentieth century - resited his masterpiece Romancero Gitano (Gypsy Ballads) for the first time in public here. Even though 7 Portes is popular with tourists it's also a favourite with locals, especially for the long Sunday lunch. http://www.7portes.com/angles/index.php
