Did you call aadvantage?

Agents can check availibility with any and all partners. www.aa.com can't.

Give me some possible dates. I will try to see what's available on partner airlines although I only have access to OneWorld partners inventory not AAdvantage partners inventory, so ultimately it's better to call.

We're looking at about 14 days starting around June 2-June 24. We have an apartment rented in Paris for June 10-17 so the Paris part will have to be then. I've tried the dates 2-17 and 9-23.

I may have my husband call American to see what they have to say, since it's his card and flier miles.

Thanks for all your help AA!!

You'll have to work out the flights, but I had an evening flight on BA out of Heathrow once to Paris that was delayed 3 hours. So just be prepared for what can happen and have a back-up plan if your flight to Paris is delayed. You'd have to ask Rentparis, but I don't think they'll meet you that late at night, but it is a risky thing for them to do (and I just don't think they'll work that late, even if it weren't risky) as they have no way of knowing when you'd really show up. YOu may not be able to take public transportation that late at night, either, a lot of things close down, like shuttles. I think I finally arrive at 11 pm at CDG (I was supposed to get there at 8) and had to take a cab to the far edge of Paris (which cost a lot, so be prepared, night rates are a lot higher), and luckily I had enough French money on me, as I could not get any at CDG that late at night (all exchange bureaux were closed). That was pre-ATM days, though, but you shouldn't arrive late at night without euro, just in case.

Okay hubby called American and they were less than helpful so we'll be going with someone else who will work with us. I really disappoints me that they were so rude and unhelpful.

Right now Northwest has a better rate so if all else fails, we'll go with them.

Thanks again for all who helped!!

<< Perhaps I'm missing something but if you have enough miles for 2 domestic tickets (usually 50K for 2) then you're close enough to get 1 econ award ticket to CDG... >>

Since the introduction of "Saver" and "Choice" level awards... it is hard as the dickens to find a transatlantic ticket in June for "only" 50k FF miles. They exist (I have managed to snag four of them for my family in the past month), but it can take a LOT of creativity and persistence to find them.

The AF nonstop LAX-LHR has some, presently, I think (my daughter got one of them, about two weeks ago) - - it's a relatively "new" flight, made available from the auctioning off of slots at LHR by Alitalia (the soon to be gobbled up Alitalia, that is ).

As you could see I did find a saver award on AA at 60K miles plus taxes.

Okay what about this one, it's from airfare.com and is from air india out of newark. It's $639pp. I know nothing about airindia so I'm a little apprehensive to take this great deal. Has anyone used airfare.com or traveled on air india? I was wondering what your experiences have been with either of these.

Thanks so much,
Amy

Amy

Can you get this same fare on Air India's own website?

Yes I checked there and it's acutally cheaper. I would feel better about purchasing from their direct site. I just have never flow with them so I didn't know how reliable and safe they are.

I would grab it. The complaints I've read about Air India are mainly about servive or the food not being as good as some other airlines. However, if your group is saving around $1000 (combined) perhaps you can simply pack a really nice meal for yourselves for the flight.

Do plan to arrive at Newark very early. That way if your domestic FF flight is delayed, cancelled, or whatever, you'll still make your Air India flight.

To be fair, most airlines (at least the ones I've flown) attract a litany of complaints on the airlinequality.com site. The part that worries me about Air India is what I've read about disappearing confirmed bookings. It does also seem you shouldn't fly Air India if you have a tight schedule.

Did you check Springfield or St. Louis on Comair to Cincinnati(or JFK or Atlanta) and then Delta to Paris? I am pretty sure that Comair has opened up more flights to Missouri but just don't know where?

Thanks everyone, I'll check out some of your suggestions. Air India is looking good to us. That price is too great to pass up. There's a flight that gets in Newark at 2pm and the flight doesn't leave til 10pm. We may have to stay a night in NYC on the way back but that's okay.

I maybe back with more questions
