You could try the small town of Morges, which is on the lake (and the train line) between Geneve and Montreux.

We stayed there the night before our departure in 2007. Our hotel was the Hotel Mont Blanc du Lac, right on the lake. We had a lovely triple room with lake view for around 300 CHF.

I checked for the price of a family room there on your dates but they show no availablity. That may be only for a 4-person room. You could try a direct e-mail, or look at other places in Morges.

The Hotel Nouvelle Couronne in Morges is the top-rated one on Tripadvisor. They too say they have no 4-person rooms, but they offer triples at a discournted rate of 160 to 180 CHF. Again, you cold try e-mailing them with your request for an extra bed in the triple room.

Hi again,

If you are open to Vevey, try the Hotel Negociants

http://www.hotelnegociants.ch/

Their site lists a room for two adults and two children (under 12) for 209 chf. The hotel is just steps from the train station. A friend of mine stayed there and said it was fine. But be aware that it is over a restaurant and could be noisy.

Yes, btw, FR, SF, and CHF are all abbreviations for Swiss Franc.

Have fun!

For those that are interested, we have booked our 3 nights at the Bed and Breakfast called 'Richard' in Veytaux. They made an offer for only 100CHF per night for a family room with private bath including breakfast. It is only 5-7 minutes walk from Castle Chillon and 3km to Montreux. There is only 1 picture of the outside of the B&B on the www.bnb.ch website, but they sent me additional pictures by email including pictures of the room and they look fine.

This location will probably be better for us than Montreux regardless of the cost since it should be a bit quieter.

Thanks for everyone's help. We had a few additional offers, but this one seemed the best for us in price and location.

Excellent!! Thank you so much for the update -- I've been wondering how it worked out.

I'm sure the B&B will be great!

The fact that they were willing to email you additional pictures speaks highly of them.

Have a great time!
