hello from Dubrovnik...

What a gem - Dubrovnik is mezmerizing. Just finshed watchig a crescent moon set over the Old Town. The view from my terrace is incredible - the furnishings are a bit modest but hey, its The Adriatic is green blue, crystal clear and refreshing. The season is winding down so the crowds are smaller and more relaxed. The air dried proscuitto is delicious. Off to Korcula for the day tomorrow and them maybe Montenegro Wednesday. The only damper - Continental lost my luggage (first time for me) - luckily I packed a carry on. Gotta run - almost out of time

Hi Mark!

You are making it harder for me to wait until my May trip! What hotel did you end up in?

Good luck getting your luggage, my husband had his lost on a flight from Atlanta to Madrid, it took 2 days for it to catch up with us (good thing as he is tall, and we were not seeing much in the line of pant lengths that would fit him!)

Are you going to Hvar? Keep us posted on your trip! And I hope your trip continues to be as nice as it sounds!

Just finished dinner at the Rustica Taverna(how Disneyesqu, no) I am staying at the Hotel Excelsior. The room is a bit pricy - 175 euro - but the view is picture perfect - room 11, level 0. The pillows are soft, I can hear the waves just outside my window - the Excelsior is all about location, location, location. I have never felt so sun kissed - the sun is strong but not burning. You will have to excuse me - I had a bottle of champagne earlier tonight(see post) and then a bottle of white and some brandy with dinner. The view was panoramic - sweeping from the Old Town to the Hotel Excelsior. Dinner was abit pricy but good, even for a hotel. As for guides, I will see what i can find out an dpost later this week.
This afternoon while swimming the sun was west, over the Old Town. The citys edge was silohuetted against the blue sky and the sunlight glizzenting off the water - pure bliss. Sunset was once again sublime - a crescent moon set over the city while the bells ring on the half hour. September is the best month of the year in the northern hemisphere. Currency stuff is a breeze - 7 kuna to 1 dollar. It is late here - I have to get up early to swim a bit before the tour bus (I am SO embaressed)picks me up - I will post again soon. This is actually very fun - the internet is so addictive. Goood night.....
