Heathrow showers- for members only?
Sorry for the re-post, but can someone clear this up for me?
I have heard conflicting things about the shower facilities in Heathrow. I'm going to have an 8 hour layover and would like to be able to shower, but some posts here say that the shower facilities are for members only.
Does anyone know what you need to be a member of?
Can anyone also verify that there are shower facilities in Terminal 4 as well as Terminal 1? I'll be flying in and out of Terminal 4...
thanks very much

By doing a websearch I found there are executive lounges in terminals 1,2, 3 run by Servisair that have, among other things, showers. The cost is 18.80 GBP/person.
Here's the website where I found the info. It also has links to what's in terminal 4 (no showers that I see) and the website for servisair.

If you're flying business class, you might check with your own airline to see what facilities they might have in their own lounge area. Another option is getting a "date rate" at one of the airport hotels. This would allow you to also take a nap if you wanted.

I used public showers at Heathrow this past August. It cost 3 GBP for a private room with shower, toilet, sink, hair dryer, towel, packets of soap. This was in Terminal 2 right where you enter 1/2 and just to the right a few steps. They are run by the same outfit that I saw took care of the other public restroom facilities in the airport.
I asked around (a few clerks and airport staff) if there were any in Terminal 4 and no one seemed to have an answer.
I arrived Term 4 and departed Term 1 so it was convenient for me.

Servisair lounges dont have showers. Or rather, if they do, they've installed them in the past two months and failed to announce it on their website. I'm generally too mean to have access to FF or posh class lounges, but get free access to Servisair lounges through another membership, so these are the facilities I use most at LHR.
Irrelevant for kg anyway, since they're at T1-3 only and are all airside. So kg couldn't get to them even if they did have showers.
According to the BAA site, there ARE public showers at T4, both airside and landside. Do a search on "showers" at www.baa.com/heathrow. To see where the airside ones are, go to the terminal map , then navigate yourself to Gate 1A in the departures concourse.

wow..thanks... My head is spinning. Thanks Katharine22- I guess if I see them in Terminal 4, I'll take advantage of it-Did you actually use one of these showers?
Suze- I've seen your previous posts about this- are these showers clean and worth the money?

kg- I thought it was fine & the price was OK by me (2GBP for the shower room or 3GBP included the towel and soap packet). Nothing fancy but clean and private. I have done layovers at Heathrow several times before & made a point this trip to find where they were and use them. Mine must have been the Terminal 1 before security facility as mentioned above. Travel was in August and it was HOT. I had packed my carry-on with a fresh 1/2 change of clothes. Since you're going in and then out of Term 4, I guess the one I used won't work for you.
I had also noticed ones in the bathrooms near departure gates in the past (but hadn't had time to use them) which is what got me thinking about it in the first place.
