Heathrow laptop theft

To anyone who thinks you 'd have to be dumb to have your laptop nicked at Thiefrow - Stella Rimington - ex head of MI5- has just had hers stolen from a luggage trolley.

Isn't that kind of dumb? To leave a laptop unguarded on a luggage trolley? The article says they don't even really know how it was lost, it could have just been left behind after they drove off.

Dumb or not, Ms. Rimington seems to be careless about her belongings, perhaps she is used to the hired help taking care of things or she just is a careless person who doesn't take care of her things. She hasn't been head of MI5 for some years now. According to the Sun, she also has sensitive information on it (unencrypted, I suppose). Not exactly someone to be admired in her conduct in this regard.

From the link.

"It's possible it was taken while her back was turned. But it seems more likely that she left the computer on the trolley and somebody took it after she was driven away."

Typical tourist mistake.

Just shows that she's human, and imperfect (as we all are). Forgetting your laptop can happen to anyone, even 77-year old ex-spy chiefs.

It doesn't say she had sensitve info on it, just that she may have contact info about former colleagues. Since she retired over 16 years ago, that's probably a stretch. Besides, whoever snatched it probably doesn't even know who she is. Or care.
