heathrow-gatwick airport transfers
I am flying into Heathrow from Madrid at 9:50 am and out of Gatwick at 1:30 pm (to the US) this July. I am very worried that I don't have enough time to get through customs, immigration, collect baggage, go 25 miles across London from Heathrow to Gatwick, etc. The travel agent in charge of my bookings assures me that there is a free shttule between Heathrow and Gatwick and I have enough time to make this connection. Is she correct? Or should I change the flight plans? All advice is much appreciated.

Rani

Teh bus between the airports takes about one to one and half hours, the bus stop is right outside the terminal. There are south and north terminals in Getwick, so make sure the driver know your destination. There shouldn't be any problem fro your connection.

The bus is not free unless you receive coupon from airline.

I've made the trip twice; the first time I did not know that I was eligible for a free trip on the bus and paid for it. I forget the name of the shuttle--"something"-Links
I did not have to haul my checked luggage with me;it went from Heathrow to LGW and onto plane, and my plane was not until next morning, but same airline. I don't think you will have to go thru customs, immigration since you are still within an EU country. Is one airline booking your entire trip? They are then responsible for getting you to US, in worst case scenario that you would miss your plane.
