We have purchased 3 first class tickets from Nice to Paris in mid July through the SNCF website but cannot seem to secure the seat numbers or car number. How do we go about doing this at this point? <BR><BR>We are having difficulty communicating with SNCF through email on their site. They keep saying to contact at another website, but this doesn't work either. Eurail cannot/will not help us. <BR><BR>Does anyone know how to go about getting seat assignments after you have purchased your tickets? We are trying to avoid issues when we show up for our trip.<BR><BR>Thanks for your help.

I took the TGV from Paris to Avignon and when I picked up my tickets at the SNCF office in Paris, my tickets had our seat assignments already on them.

Thanks, Monica. <BR><BR>I'm just concerned that although we have a confirmation of our reservation, we don't have the assigned seat info in our little hands right now. After reading the messages about the importance of getting assigned seats I thought we should try to do this now to avoid problems on the day of departure from Nice. <BR><BR>Now I see why it would have cost about $100 more for 3 tickets through Eurail. From what I understand from our phone conversations, they give you an assigned seat number and car number when you make a reservation.

I wouldn't worry about this, as you will get the seat numbers when you pick up the tickets there. I am pretty sure that when you buy a TGV ticket online from SNCF it automatically includes the seat reservation in it and that, in fact, it is impossible not to have one if you buy online. I have done it and didn't do anything special to get a seat reservation, as I recall, and I believe the web site tells you that in the fine print (that the price includes seat reservation). I don't know who you are trying to contact called "Eurail", but that is the marketing name of a multi-country train pass which wouldn't have anything to do with you buying indiv. tickets from SNCF, so it's no wonder they won't help you as it doesn't have anything to do with them.

I believe it's possible that on the SNCF website you need to select "+" and it brings you to another page. On that page they give you different choices to select such as reserved seats or not, smoking or not, etc.<BR><BR>But is it guaranteed that everyone in your party will be seated together although you all have reservations?

There is a number where you can contact SNCF at [011-33] 8-92-35-35-39 (English) seven days a week from 7 am to 10 pm (French time) daily. Though this number is for ticket sales, maybe they could check your reservations and answer your questions. I know one person was able to buy reservations only there for his Eurail pass.<BR>
