Has anyone stayed at Palazzo Carletti in Montepulciano?

Thinking to book a room in Palazzo Carletti, but can't find any reviews of it. Please share your experience if you stayed there before. Is it in a good location or a good base to explore the nearby towns?

Hi, Palazzo Carletti it's a recent opening (in the last weeks and I think they just started taking reservations), that's why you do not find any review yet..Ciao

MulberryRoxy,

I was visiting Montepulciano amost 5 years ago. There was a palazzo on the main piazza with a notice posted in the window that it was undergoing rennovation for a hotel/inn. At the time I thought it looked like a fabulous place to stay once it was done. After checking the web site, I do think it was the same one.

I can only speak for location - excellent. If it appeals to you, go for it.

Oh- the main piazza is nearly at the very top of the town, which is quite steep. Ask about parking for sure!

If you bomb out on the new place try the Locanda San Francesco in that lovely hill town.

Looks gorgeous. Do it, although Locanda di San Francesco would be my choice.

Aww...thanks for the replies! I thought this thread has sunk to the bottom.

I did consider Locanda di San Francesco, however, they don't have available room during my visit.

MulberryRoxy,

You might also consider some of the lovely towns nearby, Pienza, Montacino. Their are so many wonderful places to stay, in towns and nearby, that it's hard to choose!

Dayle,

I know! <Sighs> I searched high and low for accommodation in that area, but end up booking with this "new" Palazzo. Isn't that funny? I think the in-town location is a plus for a late riser/night owl like me. Guess I might be one of the first reviewers for the inn.

MulberryRoxy,

I'm sure you will like it. I've been very happy with everywhere I've stayed in Italy. If you look at the web site and it fits your requirements - you'll be happy.

There's a very nice leather handbag shop on the main street in Montepulciano. It's quite big, so go all the way through and find some great deals! I actually bought a bag and I usually don't shop at all. My photos are normally my memories!

Thanks to everybody for the beautiful words spent about our property.
For Dayle: I think the palazzo you saw 5 years ago was our Locanda San Francesco: our palazzo is in a panoramic square nearly at the very top of the town, with a big Church( while on the very top of town there is Piazza Grande, but there are no hotels/inns there). We were the only one who started a renovation on 2005 and we opened on 2006.
Palazzo Carletti is a very beautiful property, located on the main street of Montepulciano (the Corso), with some rooms facing on Corso and others on the valley.
MulberryRoxy,I agree with Dayle about the leather shop. It's called "Maledetti Toscani", and it's one of the favourite shops of the locals..
Also,on the same street, there is a jewellery ( "Aliseda") who has unique jewels made with the same technique used by Etruscan for gold. It's something really unique, and you cannot find that kind of jewels anywhere (a part in the Etruscan museums..).
I hope you will enjoy your holiday Montepulciano, and if I can be of some help with information about our area, please feel free to contact us. Ciao !
Ciao

LocandaSanFrancesco, Dayle:
Thanks a million for the shopping info! Now I am kinda worried as the P. Carletti is located on the main street, would it be noisy?

LocandaSanFrancesco
Last month I already told Cinzia that I'd definitely stay with you for my next year's visit.

MulberryRoxy,

Montepulciano's main street could be noisy during the day, but like most hilltowns, I expect it would be pretty quiet at night. It's very narrow, but there is traffic. Ask the PC 2 things: does your room have windows on the street and if yes, are they double-paned to keep out street noise at night? If your room opens to an inner coutryard, you should be fine. Is the Palazzo near a restaurant/bar that might have late night noise? Other than that you should be fine.

Dayle,

Thanks so much for reminding me those questions. I will ask them and report back for future reference.
