Has anyone been to the Plitvice lakes
I am starting to think of my next trip and have heard great things about Croatia. While surfing around I saw information about the Plitvice Lakes National Park. They also look like a graet place to visit except I can't find any information about accomedations or how to get there, only pictures of the lakes and water falls.

Check the Croatian Tourist Board website. Also - Eyewitness, Footprint, Lonlely PLanet and Rough Guide all have sections about Plitvice. Zadar might be a good starting point.

Plitvice Lakes is an amazing place and must be high on your list of things to see in Croatia (Hrvatska).
It is best reached by car from Senj on the coast or Karlovac on the autobahn south from Zagreb (but not Zadar).
For private accommodation see:

I visited the park this August, stayed at the hotel(run by the park) by entrance for 2 nights. You could also find some pensions outside the park.
It is one of the most picturesque areas I have ever walked. The lakes are Truly crystal clear with countless trouts. The water runs down from one lake to the other, forms different types waterfalls. Boardwalks all over the park, walking routes most are quite easy, some a little strenuous, but equally delightful. I don't think any picture or postcard really showing how beautiful the park is.
There are buses passing the park from Zagreb or Split.

The water is absolutely amazing that you's want to jump in and take a swim. Bring sneakers to walk, there's a nice hike. Like a previous poster said, the pictures do not justify the beauty of the park.
There are bus services to take you there. However it's not that difficult to get there following a map. I drive there myself, and there are signs posted. (I am from NYC, but travel to Croatia every summer). Good Luck!
