Ha! Budget Air Fares - bet you can't beat this one!!!

Just been quoted Glasgow - East Mids with Easy Jet a fare of -£1.50.

Yes that's right MINUS £1.50!!!!!!!

They'll actually credit you £1.50 against airport tax.

It's ludicrous n'est-ce pas?

Pretty amazing. They'd be better off with an empty seat. So how much is the tax? This sounds like one of Arnold's tactics.

Tax I think is either £11.50 or £12.00. I agree - surely they might as well have an empty seat - I think I'll not tell them that I'm not going to buy any drinks or sandwiches on the flight!

Who's Arnold in this context and what bizarre tactics are you referring to?

Dr. You must be in the UK. I'm in California and am referring to our governor (you'll remember him from the Terminator), who is doing some pretty different stuff to fix our deficit problems.

The airline pays the fees like landing fees by the flight or plane, not per passenger. If they sell enough tickets to cover there cost they can make money by selling tax and fee tickets only.

It's hardly a money loser. Advertising costs money, and it doesn't guarantee that you will actually try them. Hooking a customer is surely important in the fight to stay alive against Ryanair.

Best wishes,

Yes, the airfare is minus £1.01 and then they add on £11.50 for taxes, so you pay £10.49 for the trip.

Or are you looking at something else?
