Gubbio (by car) question...

We plan to visit Gubbio for the day, from our base in Assisi. We have lunch reservations at Taverna del Lupo and wish to roam the town for the day as well. Does anyone have suggestions on a convenient place to park?

Taverna del Lupo suggested "Once inside town, park in Place 40 Martiri." Does anyone know whether this restaurant (or prkg place) is convenient to other parts of town - for shopping, etc ??

Thank you so much.
Lulu

Lulu: The Taverna ( a very good restaurant by the way) is on the lower part of the village. The most interesting part of town to wander is up on the hill all the way to the top. It is walkable, but I must confess we drove down from our hotel for dinner.
There is plenty of parking on the flat, lower village. Parking up on the hillside is by arrangement.
You'll love Gubbio. Have a great trip.

Joegri, thank you.

If we park in the lower part, can you suggest ways to get to the top if it's too much of a walk for my mom? Bus, taxi...?

Lulu

Take a taxi. Gubbio is small and the fare won't be much. Gubbio is a very old medieval town with narrow, interesting streets. It is also known for a certain type of ceramics. We stayed in Gubbio three days in May, only used the car one and had no trouble finding parking. The Taverna del Lupo is the best restaurant in town. If you order from their Buon Ricardo menu, you'll get a FREE, very nice hand- painted dish. Hope this helps
