Greek Restaurant in London

On my last trip to London, a friend took us to an excellant Greek restaurant within walking distance north of the Tottenam Court Rd tube station but I neglected to record the name. Can anyone help?

Are you talking about the big place in Tottenham Ct rd itself - in which case it's called the Adonis.

However Charlotte St is nearbye - and there's loads of restaurants there. Was it in an old street full of restaurants?

No, it was about a block off Tottenham Court Rd. on the right (east) side heading north, on a narrow side street paralleling TCR.

That's Charlotte St from the sound of it.

alanarko could it be one of these?

Cafe` Grec,
18 Charlotte street.

Andreas,
22 Charlotte street.

Konaki,
5 Coptic street.

Apollona,
17a Percy street.

Elysee,
13 Percy street.

Goodge Bar & Restaurant (Greek),
62 Goodge street.

Get you map out and see if these fit.
Best of luck, Do let us know!

Charlotte St is east of TCR only in a parallel universe.

But it's all academic, since I really can't believe many people coulkd name a single "excellent" Greek east or west of TCR.

Greek (or traditionally Cypriot) isn't London's forte. There is a new wave of real Greek places - two, oddly, called The Real Greek (St John's St EC1 and Hoxton Market N1). Also the Mezedopolio, also in Hoxton Market.

The normal solution for anyone round TCR who wants something Greek and edible is to get the tube to Camden Town: Cafe Corfu in Pratt St is serious: Andy's in Bayham St NW1 for reliable comfort food.

Flanners - my sentiments about Greek food in London seem to coincide with yours.
I once tried souvlaki in Skiathos and even there I am sure we were eating goat not lamb!

flanneruk - thanks for the tip; I work 5mins from Pratt/Bayham Streets and have probably passed these several times. Not that I'm neccessarily a Greek food fan, but you never know when you might need a place!

Have also enjoyed (and agreed with) all of your other posts across the various threads (especially London at NYE - nightmare!).

(apologies for detracting from the subject to make said comment)

Cheers

Thanks all for your input. Looking at the locations, I think it may have been the one on Coptic St. but as I will be staying in Camden Town, I'll probably opt to try one there.
