I assume from the mail account you are visiting from the UK and will probably book a package? I'd recommend Parga on the Greek mainland - but there are so many places on both mainland and island Greece that might suit your requirements. It's worth hiring a car to explore and get the most of your stay. Driving should not be a problem, the roads are generaly quiet.

My favourites from my last few trips are Stoupa and Finikounda on the Peloponnese, Parga on the mainland or Kefalonia or maybe Santorini. Greek resorts are generally not high-rise and if you avoid the 18-30 type "lively" resorts, you should be OK.

I particularly like Paxos, one of the unspoilt Ionian Isles. It is an easy ferry or water-taxi ride from Corfu.

The following websites have more info...

And for some of the nicest villas try

Another for Paxos (Julia, how come you keep getting to these before me?)

My husband and I are both in our early 50's and have been going there since 1992 and absolutely adore it. If you'd like more info, please take a look at my mini-guide on the Corfu Travel Guide website here - http://tinyurl.com/7q3kb

Go to Oia, Santorini, the most beautiful village on the island. Aegean Airlines has an airfare sale going on right now, 19 euro to many islands.

You beat me to it Sheila. Yes, Crete. I reckon Hania but it's only a hop on the bus to Paleochora!
