Quick question for the Greece experts-- What about Mykonos and Santorini for the first week of October? Will the weather be good for sunbathing?
Also, I have had the same problem as noted above. I have received no replies to my email reservation inquiries. Should I try again?

hi jga
We were on Mykonos 1st week in October two years ago. Mornings are warm, afternoons hot enough to sunbathe but evenings cooled down a lot.
Each evening we ate dinner inside the restaurants as was a bit too cool to sit outside them.
That said, we loved this week so late in the season. Mykonos was quiet and unlike any time I'd seen it before.
Shops and restaurants were still open although one or two resturants had a slighly limited menu simply because it was getting close to the end of season and they would soon be closing.
One thing to note though was that ferrys and catamarans were cancelled for two days due high winds when we were there. Bear that in mind if you are travelling by sea around the islands at that time.

Most of the nightlife is in Fira, but there are no beaches there. The most popular beaches are Perissa and Kamari and there is some nightlife there. You can easily take the bus to the beaches from Fira, so why not stay where the best nightlife is and make your way to the beach when you want to? Check out the Loucas Hotel in Fira.

Try the Blue Dolphins Apartments in Firostefani and the Scirocco Hotel, Tzekos Villas and the Athina Hotel, all in Fira.

We recently stayed at the Cori Rigas Apartments in Fira and enjoyed our room very very much. Here's their website: http://www.rigas-apartments.gr/
We have also stayed at the Enigma Apartments and would also recommend this hotel: http://www.enigmahotel.com/
My mother-in-law stayed at the Hotel Atlantis and was very enthusiastic about it. She particularly liked that she didn't have to go up and down a zillion stairs to arrive and depart at her hotel. Website: http://www.atlantishotel.gr/
Brotherleelove, have you stayed at any of the hotels in Fira that you are recommending?

I've had good luck booking hotels through a UK company called Octopus Travel. I've used them many times. I just checked for the dates September 7-10 and they are showing several hotels available in Fira. The Kykladonisia looks interesting, although you would need to query Octopus if it is available. (I've never stayed there, but it has a couple decent reviews on tripadvisor.)

I suggest naxos island. It has very famous sandy beaches (saint anna, saint prokopios, saint george). You can stay www.soulahotel.com (very cheap) or at www.nissakihotels.com (on the beach).
