Greek Island Beaches in early June - too cold??

Hi Everyone - I am starting to play out my trip to Greece in June of 2008. Quick question - I am leaning toward going in early June since it will be a little before "high season" and hopefully not quite as crowded...But, will it be too cold at that time of year for the beaches and pools in Mykonos, Santorini and Crete? The beaches are not our primary reason for going, so it still might be ok, but, I would like to hang out in a beautiful pool in Santorini overlooking the caldera, or check out a beach in Mykonos and Crete for a day. What do you think??

Also, if early June is too cold, would leaving a couple of weeks later in mid-June make a difference? I have another backend committment at work which would interfere a bit with a mid-June trip, but I could make it work if it would make a difference.

Thanks everyone!!

Early-June will be fine. Mid-June will be finer.

I swim in May if it's not too cold out. The wind is what makes the water seem colder than it really is.

As broherleelove said, early June is fine for beaches and pools. Weather for sunbathing will be fine, and water still cool, but swimmable. There is no real advantage for delaying until mid-June unless you are used to warm water, and want the temperatures a few degrees higher.

We were in Kefalonia and Ithaca the first 2 weeks of June this year. The Ionian islands can be more unsettled early and late season that the islands further south. The first week we had a couple of wet days but other than that it was warm enough for the beach. The second week the weather was more settled and temperatures got up above 30C.

We've had several holidays in various parts of Greece last half of June and never had rain, with temperatures from about 28 to 40+ C. I think early June there is a slight possibility of an odd day of rain but apart from that, the weather should be plenty hot enough for beach or pool. It's a good time to visit Greece.
