We will be spending 2 weeks in Greece; Athens and several islands. Going the first 2 weeks of May is quite abit cheaper and should be less crazy but my daughter insists we should go in June. We can go May 1-15, or May 28-June 12. My boyfriend want everything to be "open" and want to see everything but are not looking for huge crowds. Ideas....

It's best all around if you go late-May thru mid-June. It'll be warmer and more lively without being overcrowded.

We went early May once and would not do it again. Many of the islands do not have their tourist infrastructure up and running and the weather can be a bit iffy. If you can go late May early June that's the best time in my opinion.

like they said. I also have done the early bit ... last year ran into really chllly time in Crete and couldn't swim for the entire 5 days. Never again... next year starting on the 21st earliest. The savings isn't worth the disappointment you'd have if weather interfered with fun.

I agree with the experts. You'll certainly enjoy early June.

Early May is a great time to go if your holiday is just for sightseeing, but I'm guessing that <i>Athens and several islands</i> indicates you plan to spend some time on the beach. Even mid-to-late May weather is undependable, as travellerjan has now discovered. ;-) Weather settles down in June, with water temperatures rising to comfortable levels.

No worries about "huge crowds" in the May 28 - Jun 12 period. That is just the beginning of the <i>real</i> summer season, and it will still be quiet. Most things will be open, but even in early June some nightclubs remain closed.
