Greece Itinerary 9/08

Hi everyone!

Could I get a review of my itinerary for our honeymoon in Sept 08?

Athens - 3 nights
Fly to Mykonos (Aegean)
Mykonos - 3 nights
Mykonos to Naxos by ferry????
Naxos - 3 nights
Naxos to Santorini by ferry (blue star)
Santorini - 4-6 nights
Santorini Fly to Athens (Aegean) but from airport head to Nafplion - 3 nights

This trip was actually originally scheduled with the islands first, but I really wanted to stay at certain hotels in Oia and they were only available at the end of our trip.

Will I have problems with the ferries in mid-September? I see that the Naxos to Santorini works out okay via Blue Star but I can't figure out how to get from Mykonos to Naxos. Are there restrictions I should watch out for?

Thanks so much!!!

No problems with ferries to Naxos in mid-September. You will have several options, and that time of year won't even need to book in advance - just buy your tickets when you get to Mykonos. Same goes for the Blue Star to Santorini - it holds over 1,400 passengers, and is never full in mid-Sep.

If you are worried that sailings from Mykonos to Naxos aren't showing up on the websites, it is far too early for them to appear. Hellenic Seaways usually has one or two highspeeds on that route, but unlike Blue Star, doesn't post its timetable very far in advance.

Thanks Heimdall! I just wanted to be sure I'd be okay d/t previous posts about the mykonos-santorini ferry not being in service every other weds during the less crowded seasons. I thought I may need to watch out for something strange in terms of our itinerary!

Thanks again!

During last summer Hellenic Seaways had at least one highspeed going from Mykonos to Naxos every day. Six days per week there were two highspeeds - one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. The one exception was Wednesdays, when only the morning highspeed ran.

Keep checking the http://www.hellenicseaways.gr/index.asp?a_id=209 website for their 2008 timetable. There may be other Mykonos - Naxos ferries as well, but it is too soon to know yet.

Hi again,

Hellenic Seaways sailings are beginning to appear on the www.gtp.gr website. They are shown as "not officially approved yet", so are still subject to change. Nevertheless, this is pretty much the same timetable as they had in 2006 and 2007, so you can be reasonably sure that's what it will be come September. See: http://tinyurl.com/yv82xh
