Greece and Italy Summer 2009
Hi group, I will be traveling to Athens,Rome,Pisa and Florence this summer. I wanted to know if 3 days in Athens is too long ? Also I want to find a 3 day cruise of the islands. Does anyone know of a good cruiseline ?

I don't understand your reply. My partner went to Italy last summer for a month visted Rome,Pisa,Venice and Florence. We decided to visit Athens. From Athens fly to Rome which is just an hour or so flight. We will take the train to visit the other cities.

I perhaps am assuming too much.
I have seen many prior postings that try to mix them to the detriment of both. Given enough time you surely can do it with a flight to Athens. If you do plan to see Greece then I would devote 10 days and see Santorini and Crete as well. And, Italy can easily take several weeks to see well. We will be going back for our 15th trip to Italy next year and still have not seen it all. It is all a function of time.

I was also thinking of doing both next Fall. I am flying from Canada and likely will not have a chance to return so I figured that 5 nights in Italy is better then never seeing it, even if I know It will just be a glimpse...
09/22 3 nights in Florence
09/25 2 night in Venice
09/27 flight to Athens, then ferry to Santorini
09/27 3 nights in Santorini
09/30 3 nights in Mykonos
10/03 3 nights in Athens
This is still very preliminary....any thoughts...should I do Rome instead of Venice? We are both in our late 20's...not really into museums/history, but more walking around, taking pictures, eating the local food...this will be our honeymoon

Alpinemccain- Going to both Santorini and Mykonos is a bit redundant. For a more diverse look at the Greek islands I suggest you eliminate Mykonos and add another island on the same ferry route as Santorini, such as Paros or Naxos.
Owenwhitehall- Trying to see the islands from a cruise ship is like trying to see the Mona Lisa from a DVD.
