Great Restaurants in the 6th that won't break the bank
Yes, exactly the same as the thread about great restaurants in the 5th.<BR>I know the names of the most "famous" restaurants but would love to hear about really good restaurants that do not cost 100 or more pp. <BR>Welcome any suggestions for breakfast, lunch or dinner.<BR>

Just three weeks ago discovered a wonderful little Italian restaurant called La Locanda on Rue de Dragon, just off Blvd. St. Germain. I think we spent about $60 for two without wine,and the food was really good, and it's a really nice place with a delightful owner. We also enjoyed Alcazar, trendy and contemporary, good seafood, nothing spectacular there but the desserts were to die for.

Three of the most often mentioned on this forum restaurants are in the 6th--Chez Maitre Paul 12 rue Monsieur le Prince (we ate here and loved it), L'Epi Dupin, 11 rue Dupin, previously all raves, now some starting to trickle in with less than enthusiastic endorsements--which is also how I felt about it, and Les Bookinistes, 53 quai des Grands Augustins. I haven't eaten at the latter myself but others have been mixed in their responses. Another Italian, Casa Bini at 36 rue Gregoire de Tours, was good when we ate there a couple of years ago. A little off beat but very good is La Maison de la Lozere at 4 rue Hautefille. It's quite inexpensive. Seating is at tressle tables but on Thursday night only they have aligote, the Auvergnat mixture of potatoes, garlic and cantal cheese, that forms into long strings after it's whipped. That's served by the mixing bowlful and accompanied by course Auvergne sausage. A wonderful contrified treat. You need reservation for the Thurs. night aligot extravaganza.

Le Golfe de Naples, corner of Clement and Mabillon, is a good Italian place also (very popular). I had their vegetarian pizza and it was loaded with great veggies. I liked Bistro de la Grille, corner Mabillon and Guisarde (boeuf en daube), but found the lamb shanks just so-so the second time.
