Quote in Greek posted on top of the Eisener Steg bridge in Frankfurt:
"May you sail across wine colored seas until you reach a land where they speak a foreign tongue"

My fav ... don't know where it came from but it's become my shopping credo when traveling:

"Buy it when you see it...you won't find a better or a cheaper one. It will be gone when you go back for it...or worse, taunt you from the interior of the closed shop the afternoon before you leave."

My personal addendum:
"Or, if it's in Venice, you'll never find the shop again."

I'm going to Alba in October and came across this one:
"The Langhe area has no sea or mountains, so if you come here, it's to drink Barolo and eat." -- chef Gianfranco Massolino of Trattoria della Posta, Monforte D'Alba

Sounds great to me!

Another variation on the theme -

"John and Richard were here while Ray and Darren were at work" - Berlin Wall 1981

Others included "Brezhnev is gay!" and the predictable "East German high jumping course".

Strangely enough, the graffiti was all on the West Berlin side of the wall (along with the bright lights and syringes).

Mark Twain is quoted the most because he is a Sagitarius(November 30th). They are known to have "travel" as their middle names.
