Great little towns in Switzerland

Hi Guys,

I'll be driving through Eastern Switzerland next month and wondered if anyone had any favorite small towns or roads they could recommend

Thanks

Verbier is a great little town up in the mountains. Winter is ski and spring, summer, quiet and local.

Sent, Scuol, Ardez, Guarda, Ftan ... all in the lower Engadine.

For some pictures (not mine), see

Hi KiwiTreker,

Lots of great responses so far (though Verbier is in the southwest). Loved Guarda. Also consider Soglio, Zuoz, and Sils. Pontresina, though larger than a village, is also worth a look.

Have fun!

Agree on all those mentioned before except Verbier (first, it's in the southwest, second, it is just a ski/hiking resort).

I'd like to add Appenzell, Werdenberg, Poschiavo, Sta. Maria and Müstair - it all depends where exactly you'll be in Eastern Switzerland.

Thanks guys,

A lot of great recommendations. Schuler thanks also for the link, just the sort of towns I was looking for.

I may even extend the drive as far west as Interlaken if time permits. It's just my 13 year old son and I traveling so I'm not too sure yet as to his tolerance level for relaxing beautiful little towns, ha ha. Hopefully there will br some cable cars etc to hold his interest.

Another one for Appenzell, visited many moons ago. Stayed above the train station at the end of the line at nearby Wasserauen and from there a very pleasant, easy walk up to and around the Seealpsee.
