Great Jazz Club in Paris???

I was wondering if any jazz fanatics out there in fodor-land had any tips on the best jazz club in Paris? Or if you can tell me what makes one better than the others, if that's even the case. Any in 4th/Marais or close by? DH is a bassist and is truly looking forward to hearing some really good jazz in a great parisian club.

I have a friend in Paris, a drummer who loves the new morning but he's much younger and doesn't know the great oldies of jazz.

NEW MORNING is an intense jazz place. But I remember it NOT being in a convenient, central location.

I went in 1988, and apparently, it is still going strong.

A strong second for Les Sept Lézards. It's also right in the Marais.

Thank you all so much, I am so excited to take him to some of these clubs! I'm so glad this forum exists, otherwise I'd have to trust the guidebooks! Thanks again!

All of those places would be the same places mentioned in guidebooks, probably, they are very wellknown. I'd suggest a good guidebook would probably be of use to you in this area -- try Timeout, they are good for this kind of thing.
