Oh my goodness, the mere sight of the name Inglaterra brought back wonderful memories of our first visit to Granada back in 1985. An old building, with a rickety old elevator and it was run by two of the cutest little old ladies I have ever seen - always greeting us with a warm smile. They spoke little english, and were amused and very gracious in our attempts to speak spanish.
Our room was a decent size with cold, white marble floors (mid May), and as I remember a good sized bathroom. The bed....well...lets hope they have new mattresses since we were there, because we kept rolling into the center of the mattress. I believe we were on the 3rd floor and we were awakened by the sound of garbage trucks outside our window. The hotel was clean and very comfortable. I believe I found it through Hilary Rubensteins B&B book.
That was 17 yrs ago. Probably new management and many renovations since then, but I would stay there again.
Don't know if my response helps at all, but it was fun reminiscing a wonderful first trip to Spain.

Thanks for the story.
That was 16 years ago. I think it has since been bought by a large chain.
I know that 16 years ago the elevator was rickety, the cute old ladies, well.... old mattresses and noisy. Hopefully it has been renovated.
Any body stay lately?
I just stayed at the Inglaterra a few weeks ago and would highly recommend it. It is owned by a chain and definitely has a chain hotel feel, but it has comfortable beds, great bathrooms, a good breakfast buffet, and air conditioning that actually made the room truly cool (not the case in many of the hotels we stayed in during our 3 week trip). The location is great - practically across the street from the cathedral and a couple minutes walk from the Plaza Nueva where you catch the bus up to the Alhambra. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi.. just got back from 8 days in Spain and I did spend the night in Granada.. I used a Fodor's Suggestion.. the ALHAMBRA PALACE.. its beautiful.. Arabic style.. there is no pool..but a lovely terrace overlooking the whole city .. where you can have a glass of Sangria
It's also centrally located as you can walk to the Alhambra and the center of town very easily... HAVE FUN!
