Grafton Capital Hotel comment on?

Hi, my wife and I will be staying at the Grafon Capital Hotel in July in Dublin. I heard a nightclub there is loud, but the travel booking agency said they'd try to get us in a quiet room. How is this hotel as far as atmosphere, and what neat things to see are closeby, within walking distance. We decided to take a taxi in from the airport, stay at the Grafton for 3 nights, then take a taxi back to the airport a rent a car to tour the country. Figured it would be cheaper and that a car in Dublin would be more of a hindrance. Anyway, how is the Grafton and places to experience within a short walking distance. Thanks. Robert

Definately ask for a room at the back especially if it is the weekend. It will get very noisy when the clubn lets out....saying that it is the best location to be in as you are 1 minute from grafton street and can walk to almost all the attractions in town. What is the rate on the hotel out of curiosity?

For three nights, we booked the Grafton for 440 Euro. Thanks for the feedback. Robert

Let us know what you think of the hotel when you get back. I have never been inside.

Have fun

Good central location. Haven't stayed there, but...
minutes to Trinity College, Saint Steven's Green, Templebar and almost everything you would want to see. I recommend that you take the hop -on- hop off city tour bus the first day, to get oriented. If you stay on, the whole trip only takes about 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hours and you will find it not only informative, but quite entertaining as well. You don't mention your ages, interests or state of mobility, but the location should suit almost any and BTW, the price is pretty decent for Dublin in July, as well.

Taxi in from airport should run about 20 Euro. There is a shuttle bus that is 8 Euro per person, which stops at or near most hotels. If you aren't humping a lot of luggage, that might be an option, as well, though the taxi is likely quicker.

I would get the bus that drops at hotels. It will stop on St Stephens Green. Taxis are a rip off from the airport but I take them as well. They charge an airport fee and per bag so keep that in mind.
