If you like seafood, try to eat at a restaurant called Porvenir while you're in Barcelona. I don't know what street it is on as friends drove us to it, but we had one of the most amazing meals of my life there. It is a Galician restaurant - rather plain looking but great food and I don't think it was terribly expensive.

I looked at this because I thought you had some good tips to offer.
Here is a good tip: Put more information in your thread titles! No one looking at the title of this thread will know you want information on travel in Spain! Consequently you'll miss out on great advice from those who know Spain.

Since it is your first time posting here - - how did I know that? click on your own name (this us one of the numerous useful tips that Fodors fails to tell you when you first register) - - we'll assume that you have also not taken the time to read the "HELP" (little tiny red letters in the upper lefthand corner) - - another oversight that Fodors fails to recommend to you to do.
Anyhow, see http://www.fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm - - especially http://www.fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm#Q6 - - which I have listed below, in excerpt form, for you (my own emphasis added):
=========================
Finally, create a title - make sure it is concise and clearly describes your message (and destination, if applicable -- and write your message in the space provided

Welcome to the forum.
Best wishes,

goosi, Hi, and yes welcome to Fodors!
Once you post (title or your message) unfortunatly you cannot change anything.
Don't feel bad everyone is a first time poster and old time posters are great at helping newbies learn the tricks.
In case you do not know what you can do; after typing a post click the "Preview My Reply" button which is on the left side of the bottom of the rectangle where you have typed your post. A second rectangle box will pop up with your message in it.
Then you can read it and see if you want to make any corrections. If so you will again at the bottom of the rectangle see "Edit". Click that button and you will be sent back to the original rectangle and you are then able to make any changes that you need to make.
If after going to the second rectangle (by clicking on Preview My Reply) you decide you want to eliminate the post altogether just click the Delete button and your message is gone. If you are the one starting the thread then the title of your thread will be eliminated also.
If after you read your post in the second rectangle and all is OK just click on the Post My Reply button.
And after your post appears and you notice you did indeed making a spelling or grammer or punctuation error, don't worry about it. We hopefully are not going to get graded like in school, LOL.
But if after posting you realize a mistake you did not catch when editing your post changes the context of what you were trying to convey just type a second post and reexplain. You will notice others do that, usually starting out with something like "Oooops".
Reading through various threads, the titles, the original post and others comments will help you get a good feel on how to best comunicate.
Have fun and enjoy Fodors. And if unfortantly you have someone get uptight or argumenative or whatever just ignore it. Doesn't happen much but once in awhile it will. Just figure it is either a nice poster having a bad day or a mean poster having a nice day (in their mind) trying to make others miserable.
goosi, I have not been to Spain. But have a good friend here in my town that was born and raised in Seville and goes back to see her family often. Seville sounds fantastic.
After your wonderful vacation do remember to post a trip report here so we can all enjoy how you enjoyed Spain and what suggestions you might have for other travellers. And hopefully some other Fodorites can give you information regarding the areas you will be visiting.
A happy and safe trip is wished for you!
Oh, one more thing. Did you know if you type the name of the different cities in the search box (top of the screen) and click find that you will see other post regarding these cities. That should give you a lot of info and it will be fun reading for you also.

goosi, you are welcome. Well I am not always nice, not to the people that berate others. You will see when you come across some of my post
. But again almost all the posters here on Fodors are nice and also very helpful. It is just a few bad ones that get overly annoying at times.
Some are what are known as trolls. They post inflamitory questions to get a rise out of everyone. Or post very obnoxious comments. And when they decide that all the other Fodorites are on to them they change their Fodors name and try again. A big game for those that have nothing better to do.
goosi, I read Fodors for about a month before I registered as I usually don't like message boards. I wanted to make sure that this was a board I would enjoy, and I have.
BTW, I just remembered something. When my friend flies to Spain she flies from Madrid to Sevilla. She says it is so much quicker then by train. So you might want to look into flying from Sevilla to Madrid (as she does). She is a native of Sevilla so I would assume she knows the quickest way to move around the country. However having said that maybe the train would be best for you as you are going to stay in Madrid for a few days. My friend reaches Madrid and immediately flies home to California. I have not be in Spain but am sure the train station in Madrid is in the center of town. That would be better in your case.
Again, I will sure look forward to hearing about your trip.
One other fun tip. To create the icons/expressions (I do not remember the proper term, sorry) in your message such as
or
bookmark: www.fodors.com/forums/smileys/. You will have fun with that. Real easy to do. If I can do it anyone can, LOL.
And I am sure that you will be receiving some good advise from others here tomorrow. Take good care.

Hi goosi,
I prepared a very lengthy trip report after our trip to Barcelona, Sevilla and Madrid. We were there last February for two weeks. I think it might help you set some priorities. I'll also top the posting, but the link I'm providing should work.

Goosi - My guess is that you will be in Barcelona at a wonderful time to enjoy some of the same festivities Ray and I did on our 2004 trip. Barcelona's Carnaval Parade should fall on Feb 5th, the Saturday before Ash Wednesday. If it's like last year it will start at Plaza de España. I would highly recommend taking this in. The costumes, dance, music, etc are simply delightful! Lucky, lucky you!!!! I highly recommend getting to the parade route early and as near as possible as you can to the very beginning of the route. Most important, find a place where you can see everything! Then, after the parade stroll over to the fountains at Montjuic for the light and sound show. (You can always make a quick stop into Caixa Forum to use the restrooms downstairs before watching the fountains. ... now the where to find a toilet tip is a first class tip!)
Others offered good tips for first-time posters. I'll add in my two cents. I find it quite difficult to direct someone unless I know how they prefer to pace their days and have a description of where their interests lie.
Another good tip for Spain... download Maribel's guides and take them with you!!!

And, please post a trip report upon your return to tell us all about your adventures.
