Wow Zeppole, both towns look beautiful as well when I look up images. Any specific restaurant recommendations? Out of the way unusual and authentic dining experiences?
Zeppole, I will certainly try the street food and breakfast pastries, thank you. Any specific street food I shouldn't miss? I'm all about the food;-)

I'm looking into flight options to see for sure, but I am thinking to stay in Cefalu for a couple of nights and driving to Syracusa if I can fly out near there. Decisions, decisions!!!!!

I really don't understand all the posts about a short trip. Fodorites have given recommendations over and over. What more can you ask? You just need to make reservations and go have a good time. I personally think that you do not need to post any thing else.

JES: Since you asked about dining in Siracusa, I can recommend Don Camillo. It is not out of the way and is quite well known. But we had a wonderful meal here a few years ago. If in season, please try the spaghetti with ricci del mar--pasta with sea urchin. You can also find street stalls in coastal towns selling the fresh sea urchin which I would recommend trying.
We also had a good, and less expensive, meal at the casual Osteria Da Mariano, also in Ortygia.

Other street foods to try would be the little fried snacks sold at friggitorie (friend food stands and street-front eateries) and (more a specialty of Palermo but found elsewhere as well) chick pea pancakes called panelle. The island is very diverse on the culinary front and each region has its own specialties.

Thank you ekscrunchy.
Since I'm suddenly going solo, I can go anywhere without worrying about what someone else wants to do and since I "will travel for food", I thought an outstanding food experience might guide my destination.
Sorry to anyone who feels I'm asking too many questions for a short trip. Long or short, I want to make the best of it and have always relyed on Fodor friends for advice. I never really understood the negative or sarcastic comments on the site-why bother replying instead of just moving on to another posting? Aren't we all "friends" here? Regardless namesake, I do very much appreciate the apology.
