Gluten Free in Italy

My husband and I are going to Rome, Positano, and Ravello in late May. I need to eat a gluten free diet throughout our trip. Anyone have good restaurant suggestions that would offer gluten free foods and are knowledgeable of the allergy? I don't want to plan every dinner but would like to have some nights set in stone if they have gluten free food and are not to miss! Thanks!

For general information you may want to look at this:

Wow, thank you! The last time I was in Italy, I remember them having gluten free granola at breakfast but I never realized how advanced they are! This is SO helpful!

Can't you just eat protein and vegetables and avoid pizza and pasta. I think there will be lots of menu options in most restaurants.

You can't assume that "proteins" and vegetables haven't been marinated or cooked in liquid bases that have gluten. Italian menus are not always clear about how many ingredients are in a dish. It's better to check with wait staff when ordering that an individual item has "no glutine".
