Gluten-free in Ireland

I'm taking a 9 day trip to Ireland starting on 10/26/13. I have two questions:

1. We'll be free for dinner in Dublin, Galway and Killarney. Can anyone recommend restaurants that serve gluten-free food, preferably with GF bread and dessert?
2. What can we expect weather-wise at that time of year in Ireland?

Many thanks for any input you can provide.

Gluten free is a common requirement in Ireland and any decent place will be aware of what they can offer.. also inform your accommodation in advance. http://www.glutenfreeireland.com/ & https://www.coeliac.ie/

Weather? yes I can safely say there will be weather..Daylight hours will be shorter daylight will be about 8.30am to 6pm It might not be too warm so pack layers and a waterproof coat because its odds on to rain real Irish rain at some point.
forget looking at the pictures but you can see the Historic temps(in C not F) on this site http://www.accuweather.com/en/ie/gal...weather/208539

Likely to be a little chilly - but not cold. Likely to be damp, ranging from cloudy with light mists to drizzles to showers to actual rains.

IMHO the most important items to bring are a rain jacket with hood, sturdy folding umbrella and 2 pairs of comfy study waterproof walking shoes (not boots but shoes that don;t leak if you step in a puddle). Also a couple of sweaters.

And you may get lucky and get quite a bit of sunshine.

And you may

Hi, As you are going to be here in late October/early November it could be quite cold over in Galway and maybe a bit warmer in Dublin and Killarney so the advice you got from the other replies is very good. Pack rain gear and layers to allow for anything - we often have four seasons in one day in Ireland!
Check out our website - www.glutenfreeireland.com for places to eat and stay. Karaun House, a Coeliac Friendly B&B in Co Galway comes well recommended and there are quite a few places to eat out Gluten Free across the country. Drop us an email if you have any other queries about travel in Ireland and we will do our best to help. regards, Derek at GlutenFreeIreland.

Thanks so much.....all three replies were very helpful. Derek, I would love GF fish and chips and found a restaurant in Galway that serves it the first Saturday of each month. We'll be in Galway on a Tuesday but I'm writing to find out if they can make their GF fish and chips available that day by any chance. I've already been to your website and found it most helpful. Again, thanks all. And when you get a chance, come to Savannah, GA....here are 30 reasons why

Hi all,

I just returned from my trip to Ireland. I am GF (very sensitive) and I ATE my way through the country. It was fabulous. GF bread was offered everywhere I went as was soup - one of my favorites. I was also able to get GF fish and chips in Dublin - Beshoffs - and Killarney. Many people seem to know about Beshoffs but I've never heard about the fish and chips place in Killarney but luckily I stumbled upon it. So, for all of you that plan a trip to Ireland, are gluten free and love fish and chips check out Marcos in Killarney. It's just around the corner from Christy's Department store. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy...
