Our choir group is taking a trip to London to perform. In addition to loving music, the performers are all students at a technical college -- engineering, science, math majors, etc. Are there any unique tours, places to visit, or things to do that you can recommend to music lovers and tech "geeks"? A factory tour or behind the scenes visit somewhere? Music venues (students are ages 18+)? Self-guided Beatles fan tour perhaps?

In London in 2013? Do you have factories where you come from? Or do you think the world's financial capital is stuck in some mid-19th century time warp?

The odd high-tech survivor (16 out of the 22 cars starting in today's Spanish Grand Prix, including Mercedes, were manufactured within a few miles of my rural hideaway) is just too busy to do tours.

I took my niece on a tour of the Shakespeare Globe theater and we also saw a show there...you can buy tickets online and the cheapest seats are very reasonable. We also took a guided Beatles tour that happened to be included in the price of our hop on hop off bus tour and really enjoyed it. Went to Abbey Road as well and did the iconic Beatles pic walking across the street. Also saw War Horse which we loved. Have a great time!

Agree they might want to have a look at the Science Museum - since UK was home to the beginnings of the industrial age. (A lot to see in other parts of the UK - but you don't mention other than London.)

Some Formula 1 teams offer tours. Williams in Wantage does, but they are not cheap. Maybe your group would qualify under the schools and colleges rule. I believe McClaren only offer tours to fan club members. Red Bull are in Milton Keynes, and Force India at Silverstone. You could google them to see if they offer tours.

Bletchley park could be of interest - not only the codebreaking stuff but on the same site is the National Museum of Computing.

The tour of Royal Albert Hall, home of many wonderful choir performances, might be a treat. Also check to see if there might be an open rehearsal of the London Philharmonic at Royal Festival Hall.
